Hi there, this is my first post on here and have been looking around for answers to my problems.

The first problem I've been having is in the mornings when I start my truck it squeals real bad. It happened 2 years ago and I changed out the belt and it stopped briefly, mainly on days it wasn't super cold. I've been thinking that it might be the tensioner pulley or some other pulley. Any ideas?

The second problem is after I start driving in lower gears it sounds almost like a loud ticking/ rumbling noise from the motor compartment. Once I start speeding up it stops making the noise, I have yet to pinpoint exactly where its at. Lately it has been doing it even after its fully warmed up.

Any ideas as to what i could take a look at would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to TW, There is a very old bulletin for the exhaust manifolds for 05's and early 06's causing a ticking noise. Maybe that is what you are hearing? Also, the injectors can be rather loud on these motors as well. What kind of belt are you putting on? Sometimes it is just a matter of the quality of belt being replaced. I personally don't prefer many of the cheap aftermarket belts because they can crack and squeal in a fairly short time. Even when they get the really small cracks, that means they are dry and they won't grip well anymore. During replacement, check to make sure the tensioner has plenty of force in it.

Ok thanks I will look up the thread about the manifold. I just looked with it running and sounds like that noise is coming from the injector area. As for the belt I dont remember what kind I used but whenever i buy anything for my truck i don't go with the cheap options so it had to of been a pretty good belt. That noise sounded like it was coming from right around the fan, maybe the idler pulley?

Can you see any cracks on the belt?

I have a pulley that squeals whenever the weather is wet ( rain snow, fog) I'm guessing it's an idler pulley. Never does it when it's dry. Does yours do it every time you start cold in the warm weather too?

I checked out that thread, mine doesn't sound like that exactly more like a belt squeal. And it didn't make the noise during the summer or fall, just started acting up this winter since its been getting to single digits at night.

As for the rumbling/ ticking noise I tightened the clamps on my intake, it may have been the pipe rattling on the housing for the filter. Knock on wood, but I haven't heard it since, only 3 times driving it. Hopefully.
