Corolla maybe ( i dont think they have dual oil pan) Our trucks (all Toyota truck engines) are dual oil pan. Volume oil at the change pretty much goes to black pan #2. The pan #1 aluminum one is pretty much empty with room. Its brilliant setup for offroading because keeps oil in smaller pen even at high degree angle. That also means double of oil will do nothing unless you trying to climb MT Everest or running 5000 RPMS.

    :D
So I doubt there was any damage to OP's engine. I would worry more about transmission being drained.
P.S Krazie is doing oil changes now...

I wasn't going to name any names, but yes, that was the one that comes to mind :D

OP, at least you know they put fluid back in the oil fill rather than the coolant reservior though... (Krazie drained his ATF and refilled through the coolant reservior since it was the only red fluid he found under the hood. Although it was an innovative way of attempting to lubricate the transmission, it was not successful).

It was a Perkins 4 cyl. Diesel. Forgot to drain the old oil out before putting new oil in.
A friend of mine had the same thing happen to his 5.0 mustang.

True. I read that whole thread and it was great.
I'm in business attire at the moment but would like to take a gander at the transmission drain plug.

    No problem,
if double of oil level was bad OP would not have made it even to dealership. Since he did not see any leaks and did not see any adverse affects I doubt his oil level was high enough to cause any problems. Also its a proof even if we screw up and put double of oil we can drive our trucks (atleast short term):D

And that would cause a leak and the frothy thing? Or one or the other?

    So who did this?

I had the dealer forget to put the oil cap back on once. Now I never leave without checking the cap and dipstick.

This was the first time that I did not mark my filter, but it did look new. Nothing a quick wipe down wouldn't remedy. I had no issues before so I guess I "trusted" them.

    .
Subaru dealer did this to a friend's 2007 Impreza and nothing happened to it ... and they drove it several months in town.

Not sure if it was double filled ... but it was waaaay over filled in that little 4 banger.

    Update:
Thank you all for your advice on this issue. It seemed most people said damage would not occur because of the low use before I found the mistake and that seems to be true. The assumptions about the dealer doing this were also correct, but I feel they handled it very well. They did a complete diagnostics check and everything showed good (no codes thrown, over pressure damage, or lack of proper lubrication). They went ahead and: changed plugs, changed oil (correctly), turned the seatbelt chime off, and gave me the extended 100k warranty. I did not have to argue about anything and they owned up to their mistake (which is rare), so I'm happy. Thanks again TW!
