It’s normal during winter months. It’s happened on all our trucks, nothing to worry about.

I looked at ops history and his truck just hit 40k miles. Blown head gasket would be weird wouldnt it?

If you're worried about it, do an oil change and if it's all milky, you have a problem. If it looks normal then it's just condensation and you have nothing to worry about.

Short trips cause this. Running any other spark plug setup besides 3 NGK and 3 Denso's causes this lmfao.

Yep, 99.9% sure you’re just dealing with condensation. Like others have said it’s fairly common especially in cold climates. Just take your truck out for more 30+ minute drives on the highway to build up enough heat in the engine to burn off residual condensation occasionally.

Agreed, but I was focusing on something that could be fixed. Unless the engine has been hit or seriously overheated, or coolant frozen in winter from insufficient antifreeze, as you said, a cracked block would be unlikely.

That much gunk is not normal. That the OP has a coolant loss (says it is low, without an obvious leak) is one symptom. A normal oil level wouldn't be completely unusual; engine heat could evaporate most of the coolant in the oil and the evaporated coolant would be lost through the crankcase ventilation system, and leave the milky residue he's found; an oil loss roughly equivalent to the amount of coolant making its way into the pan could also keep the reading in the normal range. Oil floats on water; if there is significant water in the oil, it would be at the bottom of the pan, the dipstick may not reach it. This is another reason to do an oil change; note what comes out the drain hole first as soon as the plug is removed.

If your coolant reservoir is low like you stated, I’m going to say head gasket. You get that creamy coffee color when oil and water mix.
I had the condensation issue but it wasn’t bad. Check your spark plugs as stated, they’ll tell you if it’s the head gasket. You could also run some compression tests. I would bet it’s the head gasket but it could be the condensation issue.

Theres no water mixed with the oil on the dipstick and the oil level is good so no gasket leaks .

Most likely there isn't a gasket failure, but don't quote me on that. This occurs because of rapid heating & cooling of the oil and block. The culprit is short trips.

Drain your oil. If it is at all milky then you probably have a bad head gasket. If it not milky and the funky stuff is only on the filler cap and tube then it’s condensation causing it and you are fine.

Drain your coolant and measure how much you get out. Then add water back into the radiator and measure how many gallons you were able to put in. That will tell you how low the radiator was. If you lost coolant and your oil looks like that, most likely a head gasket. Don't listen to the guys saying that is normal, water should not be getting into your oil. If its not coolant, find out where the water is getting into the engine and seal it off.

if your oil doesnt look like the cap then you are prob ok, but I might put in a can of engine cleaner in let it run and change the oil. Dont drive it if you put an engine cleaner in. Follow the instructions on the can...

It’s completely normal for the second gen 4.0. V6! DOES NOT mean you have damage. It’s simply condensation rising up into the cap area. Short trips and cold surrounding air on the plastic filler neck is the culprit. I get this really bad in winter temps, but in summer it is gone. Just wipe it off and change oil frequently. It’ll be absolutely fine.

Water ruins engine components. If your oil is collecing condensation and its not damage, just be sure to change the oil more often like every 3 months or so. Is it possible that the oil filler cap or fill tube isn't sealing correctly?

This is the 100% no wiggle room truth.

An IC engine is a large air compressor, water is a normal by product of rapid heating and cooling. The new fuels don’t help, they make it worse.

Not a damn thing wrong with your engine op, you find this also on engines that sit unused for a period of time. I have some “milk” in my R1 right now.......has not been started in over a year and there is no coolant in it.

Go out for a long drive, get the motor hot and cruise. You are good op, got the same on mine in winter.
