Why are you going to the stealership for body work? Maybe try a third party that specializes in damage repair and doesn't have 18 year olds applying excessive amounts of bondo?

OP if I’m reading this right you were in park with the engine running and you turned the key off and the shifter slid from park to in between park and reverse and rolled forward? Are you sure you weren’t in park and let off the brake when you turned the truck off causing it to roll forward a foot? Or did it move forward 10 feet or so?

My mistake, I didn't know that. I thought all the trims (with the exception of M/T's) used key fobs.

This is why auto parking brakes are mandated slowly, most german cars engage it if you open the door.

Okay, it looks like the OP made a reply, but it was in a thread about which tires are the most comfortable.

Here's a wild theory... Assuming since the truck rolled forward to cause nearly 4K in damage you were on a fairly steep hill. You thought you were in park but were really in reverse. Will the engine was running the car being in reverse hold it from rolling forward (like being in drive on a hill and not rolling back). As soon as you turned the engine off reverse could no longer hold the truck and off it went.

You can't bump a shifter out of park. There is a shift lock override that requires you push the brake to get it from park. Again assuming you were fully in park and there's no issues with the truck.

I’m still confused on why you didn’t shut the truck off to begin with before you shut the gate. Why would you pull through, get out, close the gate and then shut the truck off? That just doesn’t make sense.

PTS is a TRD thing I believe. SR, SR5 and MT all use keys I think. I would assume Limiteds have PTS, but don't know for sure.

Vague explanation and no response to questions = Operator error trying to be explained as equipment failure.

Something is being left out of the story...if it was in Park, the shifter can't (shouldn't be able to) move without touching the brake.
    Doesn't pass smell test

my 19 Limited has PTS, I am almost positive all Limiteds are PTS. My vote is for operator error.
