Not sure what year that vid is from but lots of folks say the auto is improved on that front in 2020. That being said, my dad has a new Ranger (same transmission as the Chevy too) and that thing is extremely snappy with the shifts so not sure the Tacoma would be as good even w/ updates. The solution is obviously to get the manual if that is a possibility.

The 2.7 in the old regular cab with a stick was good. Anything with more mass or an auto will likely suck. People call the V6 a dog so you'd have a cat I guess.
    A fat one.

so if you test drive it after driving for a while then turn on ECT (button on right side of dash) and drive some more and compare.
and if the salesman is talking while you are driving tell him to be quite so you can concentrate on how the trucks drives.

On “paper”, the Ridgeline wins hands down.

    Probably should check out RidgelineWorld.

It's the opposite, shifting has improved over time as Toyota updates the tune. I'm tempted to go test drive a 2020 to see if it feels any different than my 2018.

But honestly, I like my 6cyl auto. Not the best 70 mph+ cruiser, but I bought a truck. And don't listen to anyone who says the V6 has no power - they probably drive like a-holes.
