Old 4 cylinder engine has 260k on it and it blew its head gaskets. If I replace the engine would I be able to fit the 6 cylinder in it is the spacing differ from the factory. Would the 6 cylinder work with my 5 speed manual transmission or would I have to replace that too?

Ugh. Dude, you will need the entire ECU to go with that engine. Not like my days where we could swap in a day or two, with no electronics lol

That’s what I was afraid of… in your opinion is it worth replacing or worth trying to just replace the gaskets?

The tranny wouldn’t bolt up either I don’t think. The V6 has a 6 speed.

Head gasket might not be too bad on a 4 banger. Only one head.

    It’s different. It won’t fit.
Engine and trans mounts don’t line up.

unless you overheated it and warped/cracked the heads, I don't think a head gasket job on a 4 banger would be that bad to do. Certainly less work than swapping a different kind of engine into it

    Condition of truck?
Body mounts cab corners, frame etc?
Replace head gasket, maybe rebuild engine? And drive on!
