"I'll attempt to accelerate and the engine will rev to over 3K RPM's, but there is seemingly no engagement with the transmission." Have you tried letting the clutch out sooner? Sorry, bad joke. I should've resisted. Looks like you are getting good advice here, I wish you luck in solving it.

    Any updates on this?

My '19 TRD Sport does the exact same thing..and its been happening more frequently over the past few months. Sometimes several times in the same drive.

Did you ever find out what the heck is goin on?

    Thanks in advance!

My '16 TRDS started doing this over the past month or so - taking her to the dealer for the 30k service - will report back with anything interesting...

Mine does it also slight hill let off gas coast down slow speeds then reapply gas then revs up a lil and jerks or turning a corner some times slow speed and some times rolling stops I learned from experience to just be easy as possible getting back on the gas to minimize the jerk but shifts perfect threw all the gears any other time I think the ecu and tcm and the artifical intelligence computer goes dumb at times and realizes the last second it needs to get outta that neutrol state and get its ass in gear very annoying but I think this is just something we are all going to have to live with I also had the tranny flushed at 60k and fluid level checked and it's fine they said.

@TK11 you could not help it, eh??
At least we did held out for 2 solid pages! :)

Jokes aside - it sounds like quite an annoying issue -and a safety concern. I'd have your service rep record this as a safety issue for future reference.

Subbed for resolution. I would have pointed to low fluid as well... (I'd confirm with the ol' 'finger method')

mine's really bad in ECT mode. It always clunks when i let off the throttle to coast, and my OBD scan tool shows it switching into open loop. Did the same thing in normal mode but went away when it stopped switching to open loop. guess it still has some learning to do.

Have you checked your transmission fluid level? I had a transmission TSB done around the same time I discovered my fluid was 1 quart low from the factory. Not sure which fixed my stumble, but it went away.

Might be worth checking further on a TSB. The link I posted above was from 2018.
