I have a 1997 Tacoma with a 2.7 3rz with 240.000k miles . Lately it’s been running rough and it to the point where I can’t even drive it. I heard some popping noise coming from engine . I’ve replaced wires, plugs, both 02 sensors .maf sensor . Just curious what could cause this . I’ve also checked for vacuum leaks and none seen

Might as well change the egr valve just to be safe too..have you cleaned the throttle body ? Both could be completely unnecessary..maybe but it can't hurt..at least you would know it's not those..I don't know what a popping sound could be..hopefully someone else can chime in..there's been some talk about the balance shafts having problems but don't know the symptoms of such..might want to check that out..the symptoms at least here on TW to eliminate those too..best of luck..I'm assuming the spark plugs are good right ? Doubt the timing chain has a problem but if you happen to have the value cover off it wouldn't hurt to just grab it to see if there's slop in it..

Do you have a check engine light on?

I wouldn’t replace any more parts until I did a bit of diagnostic.
Replacing parts at random can cost more than the cost of a diagnosis at a shop.

Sounds like a fuel issue. Scan for codes?

Could be fuel pump, fuel line or injector related.

Are all the plugs and plug wires/ 02 sensors tight? Did you recheck your maf connection?

Would a 1997 Tacoma with a 2.7 3rz have valve shims that could need adjusting? Also definitely check / replace EGR.
