Yes. In fact, it weirdly looks brand new. Shiny silver. No tool marks on it. But no record of Jiffy Lube ever replacing the plug, and you know they would have charged me $39.99 for a new one.

There is no tranny dipstick on the 2nd or 3rd gen also there’s no where they could have possibly put it in the engine bay even if they tried to put it in the radiator it would have spilled out so it’s not like they could accidentally put 5.5 quarts of oil anywhere except into the oil fill hole

Both of the mechanics that looked at the truck -- and these are experienced guys -- said they believed the truck could have driven 1000 miles without oil. Not forever, obviously, but 1000 miles did not surprise them.

Assuming oil was put in and that's looking unlikely, oil has been known to pass into an engine's water jacket from a gasket failure or even a casting flaw. It's another long shot but it should be obvious as soon as you look into the coolant res, if it looks normal that's not it.

Do you have an ex that has a vendetta or someone who is jealous or hates you op? Honestly that’s probably more a culprit than a jiffy lube fuck up if they have video of them pumping oil back into your truck

Thank you -- I will ask my mechanic to check that, if he hasn't already.

    The oil wasn't stolen.

For all 11 days between the oil change and the engine death, the truck was parked in my driveway (with a motion activated webcam pointed at it), my work (manned garage) and my friend's driveway in a gated community. Not a drop of oil on any of those driveways, plus the plug is present and tight.

^Yeah a lot of Toyota manual transmissions didn't have a dipstick, some didn't even have an oil pan.

You said it was driven 1k miles right was that a straight one shot of non stop 1k mile driving? Could have happened when you stopped away from your camera. Sounds extremely far fetched but again the only thing that makes sense

even if you had a blown head gasket the oil wouldn’t just completely disappear and you would have a cel (check engine light) white smoke, an oil light as well as other signs (stumbling rough acceleration etc)

I had an oil filter gasket blow on my 1st gen. The oil drained out in the 8 hrs I was at work.
Walked to a gas station and grabbed 4 qts to get me about 1 mile to the oil change place that did it.
That 4 qts was gone in that 1 mi.

After the supposed oil change, I drove it to work and back (about 20 miles each way) for five days, then we did a road trip that was about 800 miles total. The truck seized after 375 miles driving back. We only stopped for gas once, and one of us was with the truck the entire time (too much visible stuff inside it).

Never saw or smelled smoke. No dash lights ever came on (until it died). Truck operated normally until it seized.

There is no evidence of oil leaking AT ALL in my driveway, my work parking spot or my friend's driveway. Not a drop.

something happened during those 5 days you need to think long and hard

did you actually see the video of them pumping oil into your fill hole? If not they could obviously lie about it

the fact that your drain plug is still in there says they obviously didn’t leave it out, also your mechanic says there’s no crack or fracture in the oil pan which rules out hitting something and cracking the pan

how many miles is on your truck? Did your cel and oil light come on when you seized your engine?

Sounds like you threw a rod. Weird that you said no oil, but no sign of leaking... Did you actually see the service video yourself?

When the old filter comes off it can leave the old rubber gasket. The new filter with gasket goes on making two - stacked - gaskets that hold tempararily.

The video shows a guy at Jiffy Lube connecting a hose to the engine -- the District Manager who annotated the video says that's when the oil was filled. Obviously, I can't see any oil actually going in. But they do check the dipstick afterward, and supposedly perform an oil pressure check.

What could have happened in my webcam monitored driveway, my staffed work garage or my friend's driveway in a gated community? Not a drop of oil on any of the spots I parked during that time. And what thief replaces the oil plug?

It is possible the drain plug was left loose, it would not have spilled when parked at her house for 11 days but when she drove on the road trip the vibrating could loosen it enough to slowly spill out and so slow it would not make a huge mess on her truck
