I have a 2017 3.5L TRD Sport with 36,500 miles. I gas up with regular Chevron or Shell and conduct maintenance every 5000 miles. I use midgrade and fill from empty when I go up the mountain which was recent. I don't tow any heavy loads and drive pretty modest.

Yesterday I accelerated as I approached an overpass. At the base of the increase of grade my truck lost power. Simultaneously the tires felt as if they had lost traction. The check engine light and traction control light were activated. I could not reach above 2000 RPM but was able to make it over the freeway overpass. I coasted to a gas station. Both check engine light and TCS remained on until I turned the engine off. After 2 minutes I turned the engine on and it was fine. The error codes were also cleared. I tried to recreate the failure but was unable to.

My vehicle is covered under the 100,000 mile 7 year plan. Before I blow $289.00 take it to the dealer and they tell me my vehicle is fine, I'd like to hear some input on what the issue may be before going to the dealer.

To supplement this I never have changed the fuel filter which apparently is in the fuel pump.

Maybe crank position sensor? I read some early 3rd gens had issues with them.
