    Hey Guys,

I wanted to see if anybody else has experienced this and if I should have it looked at. This has happened to me only ONCE but my warranty is ending in about 2k miles.

I had to go out of town this past weekend on Saturday morning (5am) and had to move my truck out of my driveway. I started it up cold and parked it on the street (very slight downhill grade) and turned her off. (I know cold start isn't the best but was in a rush.) Well that isn't the problem that happened to me. It was when I returned on Monday morning for work. I started the car up around 9am and noticed the engine sounded like a rod knock or the pistons were misfiring. After the noise happed for about 2 seconds it stopped and a dark cloud of smoke plumed out my exhaust. I thought for a second my truck was a diesel and I floored it!

I use my truck for work and turn it off and on throughout the day many times. I have never had this happen to me and it no longer is happening ever since this morning. Any idea what it could be or if I should be worried?

    Help! :rain:

Nothing happened this morning do you think it was just a fluke?

The engine oil seemed a tad low so I added some that day. But my readings probably werent too accurate since the engine just started and was on a slant.

The smoke was a grey/blueish (oil).

Usually if it is blue smoke then it is either piston rings or valve seals may be worn.....

I'm not too sure. I really don't like the sound of rod knock. I'd bring it in, but they're not going to do anything if they can't reproduce it. If you wanted to really check it out, you could pull the spark plugs and see if they're clean. I'd also recheck the oil when the ground is level.

If the truck is running well now, then it is probably nothing too major, but I don't like risking things like this.
