Thanks again for the replies. I'm pretty much clueless and appreciate any advice. I finally took off the valve cover this evening. The passenger side lifters had all fallen off. The upper guide(?) for the timing chain has snapped off. There's a crack in the cylinder head near the timing chain that seems to correspond with the oil sprayed everywhere.

That is one very loose chain, pretty evident that it was so loose that it was contacting the side of the cylinder head.

Looks like the upper (Bridge) guide snapped off from the chain slapping it, it had to have one hell of a startup rattle long before it let go.

At this point may as well pull the head and see what the damage is and/or start looking at a replacement engine, with that crack I'm not sure if the head would be cost effective to repair or not.
