    Hi Forum,

Recently, my the 4.0 Ltr V6 (1GR-FE) engine of my 2005 Tacoma developed some issues. I found a good engine from a 2011 Tacoma which is matching the description, i.e. 1GR-FE and looks the same visually.

However, I found from local Toyota dealer that the part numbers for the two engines (based on their corresponding vehicle VINs) are different. The 2005 Tacoma engine part number is 19000-31A30 and 2011 Tacoma engine part number is 19000-0P060.

Has anyone tried such as swap ? Any advise on whether to go ahead with this or should I look for exact year engine ?

There was a thread on which engines were compatible that I tagged but it's gotten buried. I'm worried about my '05 as well so in for answers.

I know they changed in 2012 with the addition of Secondary Air Injection but AFAIK 05-11 are the same.
Headgaskets were updated mid 06 but I wouldn't think that would change the part number on the engine.

19000-31A30 and 19000-0P060 are the same engine, one is just made in Japan (31A30) and one is made in the USA (0P060).
