Anyone know if you could get a small V-8 engine in the 1st gen, think putting one of those in my truck would be amazing to have, any price suggestions or V-8 suggestions just curious what everyone has to say?

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
    Carb 350s have been documented.
    1UZ/3UZ swap has been documented.
LS1 swap is documented on CustomTacos.com (SpeedFreak)
4.7L Tundra swap has been done. Don't think somebody has tried to fit the bad boy 5.7L in one yet..

    That's about it..far as I know.

Oh, I think I saw a LT1 swap along time ago in a bagged truck..
Most people just do 1UZ swaps or the inline six 2JZ/7MGTE.

i wonder what's involved in getting a 4.7L Tundra engine in. my brother has '03 4runner with the 4.7L and i love the v8 torque compared to the tacoma's v6.

Not sure, I've never seen it documented unfortunately..if you search long enough, you might find a build thread on it.

4.7L is indeed a badass motor, my mother has a DC Tundra with it and it's got plenty of get up and go for a double cab tundra..

I always dreamed of putting one in my 2WD 5 lug..but that'll never happen I'm so pissed at that truck right now.

Thats actually exactly what i was thinking the 4.6l v8 out of a 4runner or the tundra 5.7l on the tacoma is just to big for it. But that would be so sick wonder how much that would cost.

The problem with the Tundra 5.7 is it LOOKS so dam bulky, and all the accessories would not fit...if you ever look under the hood of a Tundra..that engine is so widespread underneith it...trying to fit it in a 1st Gen tacoma would take alot of work
It'd be alot of custom bracketry, definetely custom headers, and somehow a custom oilpan with a notched cross member.

The LS1 is alot more tight nit...and I know because I was staring at a LS1 with all the accessories on it 2 days ago..friends dropping one in his 68 CST Blazer.
and I've followed SpeedFreaks build since day 1.

    Just my thought though..:)

Yeah i would probably just end up getting a new tacoma rather then spend the money but just brainstorming. But the 2.7l 4Cl kills me how slow it is.
