Got the bad news last Friday:
PO305 cyl 5 misfire came back after 2 years. Compression test showed leaking head gasket and there is internal wear on the piston rings. However, first thing I asked was: “What do we have to do to save my truck?”=engine swap. I trust this shop based on many favorable past experiences. Definitely did not want to go through a dealership. So, getting a remanufactured one from Jasper that comes with a 3yr/100,00K warranty. Also will be replacing the original clutch which has 241,000K on it. And while they’re at it it’d be a perfect time to swap out the timing belt and water pump as well as replacing the VC gaskets. I love this truck and hope that once it’s all swapped out that I’ll get another 200,000K out of it.
Any of you out there done this or had it done to yours? Suggestions on anything else that could be done at this time(e.g. new headers)?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I am confused if your getting a Jasper Engine I would really Hope it comes with a New Timing Belt and water Pump How else could they warrant the engine??

Then you might have plans to rebuild the engine with problems for a spare??

That’s correct. I had just looked over the estimate from my mechanic and the timing belt/water pump was just listed separately. Pretty sure I get the whole enchilada from Jasper like you mentioned

    1. Your mechanic is not buying the engine from Jasper
    2. You have a shady mechanic
