Why did you put your transmission in neutral instead of engine braking? It will definitely use fuel and brake pads then, plus risking overheating your rotors.

Ok, but why not use engine braking?

Speaking of the engine temp dropping… we are in a cold snap here in Minnesota combined with the fact that I have had to park my truck outside overnight. Normally I park in an underground garage.

The truck was idling after being fully warmed up with an ambient temperature of -10F. I was waiting in the truck for my girlfriend, so I had nothing else to do other than watch the temp gauge drop and the heater start blowing luke warm air. I raised the rpm to 1500 and the temp gauge starting rising again.

There wasn’t much surprising here except I had never noticed my heater not being able to keep up with the ambient temp prior to this, mostly because I never paid much attention. Once on our way, the truck warmed up nicely.

The other thing to report is my 2020 stock battery started the truck at -10F with mild effort.

You seem kinda defensive. I was just asking a question.
