Hey guys I have a 4.0 V6 2013 Taco. I’ve started noticing a tick going down the road seems more noticeable on passenger side. I’ve read many threads saying a lot of them do it and it’s nothing to worry about. Just wanted to get everyone else’s thought.

The 1GR-FE: 400,000+ miles of reliable ticking. Puts a Rolex to shame.

Edit: Unless it sounds like a ton of marbles in a can (severe pinging), metal on metal grinding, or high pitched whining, I wouldn’t worry about it.

How rusty is this truck? My old 2009 had the normal "Taco tick" but also had a slight exhaust manifold leak on the drivers side as the studs were more rust than metal at that point.

    It’s more than likely normal.

A sound like marbles being shaken in a can or a knocking sound is not normal.

I honestly don’t think you have much to worry about.

It’s definitely a tick not ping or grind

It’s not rusty at all as far as body but it does sound like an exhaust leak

I think they pretty much all do this ticking. Mine is no different. With Led Zeppelin
at medium volume my engine sounds smooth as can be. I can just watch the gauges .

My tick has gotten louder now that it’s cold. Worries me sometimes but I just slap the hood and say “good girl, keep ticking”.
