Hey guys. Just wanted some opinions. My Taco has around 230,000 still running strong. Only thing is it has a tick you can hear whether at idle or going down the road. I’ve heard ALOT of Tacoma owners have this. Just curious on opinions and if it’s anything to worry about?

Mine has ticked pretty much since it was new, its worse when it's cold gets better as it warms up.
Most of it I believe is due to the tacoma engines having mechanical instead of hydraulic lifters thus theres always some amount of "slack" in the valvetrain.

I’ll start worrying when mine doesn’t tick. ;)

If it wasn't ticking you wouldn't know it was running with the factory exhaust:rofl:
One of the reasons I put a Magnaflow on mine:D
As long as the tick doesn't turn into a knock or a rattle you should be good.

Mine has it too with low miles and is well maintained. Toyota trucks and Yamaha motorcycles seem to have the tick in the valvetrain but it’s normal from everything I’ve read.

In the tick club here, especially noticeable when alongside something solid, at the drive thru or when close to a wall.

Mine does not tick at all, but it is an 05 and with that head gasket thing going on, I got a lot more to worry about than tick tock tick.
