My engine is working but my truck shudders and can only drive 10-15 mph at the maximum. My dealership says the engine is working but they have to tear apart the engine to find out what the problem is because it might be internal. My question is if an engine is torn apart, can it be put back together or will it have to be replaced with a new one?

unless your block is cracked it can be put back into working order. does it really sound that bad they gotta tear into it? or is the stealership trying to make sum $ from you?

Yeah, it does sound really bad. The engine is working, but something is causing it to not go over 15 mph as well as make it shudder and shake and tremble while it is running.

Are you not seeing any Check Engine Light?

There's a chance it might be a severe engine control problem and the ECM has gone into limp mode.

I went from Aug. 2008- December 2010 without an oil change
One mechanic said the motor tank broke and oil leaked onto the underneath causing severe damage and said the engine was dead and not working. A 2nd mechanic is saying they have to tear the engine apart for 500 bucks to find if there is anything internal and that the engine is working.

Sounds like timing or a valve is messed up. If there isn't anything cracked then it can go back together

lets not assume it was him, it could have been bought and later found out about the oil changes, or a senile relative

hey man.... just throwing one out there for you..... change your fuel injection relay. i think there is a relay in your fuse box that you can use for the time being until you can buy another relay. I think I used my ABS relay when my efi relay went bad. hope this helps.

    NONE.....yet!
Sounds like it may have gone into limp home mode. Maybe it was a flood vehicle, hence the beginning of electrical problems. Quien sabe. Take it to a toyota stealership and have them hook up the diagnostic computer. It had to have thrown a CEL.
