You may want to try putting the proper spark plugs in as well

With the engine idling tap the mass airflow sensor lightly with the handle of a screwdriver if the idle fluctuates the mass airflow sensor is bad or so I hear but I could be wrong. Good luck!

I think I have ruled out MAF.... could be wrong though. When I had it running with my foot on the gas we removed the MAF and the engine died. This leads me to believe that MAF is working just fine.... or I am completly wrong. (Would not be the first time)

Unplug the MAF sensor - try to start truck - does it run better?

I’m gonna say try another ECM from a different truck

I love this new computerized shi,,, "uh" stuff. Now you've got the computer working, & it shows you exactly what the problem is. Looks like 15 codes, & probably none of them will fix the problem. Can you tell I'm past my 50's

Before you do anything crazy, remember that you most likely caused a few of those codes by unplugging stuff.
I would erase all and start over.

Maybe try disconnecting the battery for like some say 20 minutes I did like 45 to reset.
    Reread codes?
Your buddy prolly removed the intake to do the coolant line.
Remember I have not done this so I’m guessing here.
How confident are you in his mechanic ability?
Ask him if the tach was working before also.
I’d retrace what was removed to see it was all plumbed right!

    IT'S ALIVE....

Went back to the start of the previous owners repair. Removed the intake manifold like I was replacing the water bypass pipe.... found a hose not connected on the back of the intake that was never reconnected. Now I am just down to 2 codes and the car is running pretty smooth.

    P0418
    P2432

    Holy crap what an ordeal.

Calm down, you're confused. You were working on a Tacoma, not a car. Glad it's running anyhow.

I could have avoided all of this had I just retraced the steps of the previous repair. Thanks to everyone who was helping.

Good job. So, was the disconnected hose causing a giant vacuum leak?

I figured that the original work was already looked over. The beauty of every individual owners personal touch.

    Too few to list.
Glad it worked out. We all forget to plug connectors, etc... once in a while. I double check my work from then on.
