Actually the 10spd and 2nd gen 3.5eco in my 17' lariat are pretty smooth and can handle TONS of power, unlike the 10spd in the GT (we wont talk about that)
And with 375hp and 470ftlbs at the crank, she spins the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and sometimes 4th on wet days. Getting to the speed governed 107mph is insanely quick for something that weighs well over 2 tons, its a flying brick for sure even with aluminum.
ooof, forgot this was a TW.
Love my 2nd gen too for what it is, can't beat the solid 1GR and 5spd auto.

You guys forgot you want all this shit for only $20K.
Geez. All of you know there are quality shops out there that will build precisely exactly amazingly what you want. They will even give you a better warranty than Toyota. The best part? All it takes is a lot of monies. $40K for the truck, another $50K to get exactly what you want. Under $100K and you have your dream truck.

Styling is good, but i still think the front end looks too long. It just looks so much longer than 2nd gen. Is that just some added crumple zone?

The 3rd gen front end but with the length of 2nd gen would be perfection.

Yeah. There’s no getting away from the pedestrian crumple zone. There is a whole foot of empty space behind the 3G grille to absorb a low-speed crash with a pedestrian. This is also one reason the front end is so light-duty. It’s not meant to kill people, which I suppose is a noble cause, until you put a plate bumper on it at least. ;)

You lost me at a manual that doesnt blow.

This is one of the smoothest manual trucks Ive ever driven- its only marginally more truck-like than the GTI I sold when I bought it. Either 1) you had a lemon, 2) you arent as good as you think at driving a stick, or 3) you need to go drive an old truck and remember what its really like to have no synchros, a dead return spring, and throws from here to Australia. Maybe all 3.

I got a refresher last month driving an FJ60 I was considering buying, and getting back in my truck afterwards was night and day.

Given the choice, I would design the bumper without hitting pedestrians in mind.

All I want is the current truck with a 1,600+ lb payload in 4-door TRDOR trim and the gas tank on the passenger side. Maybe slightly larger wheelwells on the inside so 35's aren't such a PITA.

Change, and I mean higher ratio, the reverse gear ratio in reverse. Other than that I love my truck.

From a line-up, make a the Pro actually a Pro, not some over priced bagged up boy-toy. Put a v-8 in, front & rear lockers, full skids, decent OR type tires, and no more silly ass-blues. Oh and get rid of the scoop, that iss for us fancy dancer Sport types :D
