Most people “cleaning” their electronic throttle bodies do more harm than good…

@Booleo I did check out the Insta.
That's actually a pretty sweet rig. And now I understand, - "Why"?

My first guess would a wiring issue. Even more so if you ran the truck hard with engine bay the way it is in the pictures.
I'm betting something got pulled loose. And would not be surprised if something is broken somewhere.
I'd want to check the wiring integrity to the ECM.
You can do at least one simple test right at the TB.
It will check the 5v ref and ground.

Whoa, not directed at you personally. There is a known defect on the 040 white paint Tacomas. With your extensive mods I thought that at least your white paint is holding up so far.

We do have some things in common though. Choice of Color, the joy derived from our trucks and passionate about outdoor wheeling in our own ways. We love exploring old abandoned mines.

Very cool truck though. I would not have the time, money or balls to do that extensive mod to my little old mall crawler. Love the white but I'm biased.

Lots of awesome folks on here from all over the world including Canada. @Vlady and @TnShooter are some of the best for help here.

Good luck with your issue. I truly hope it gets fixed and you can continue out there wheeling without any issues.

I'm sure nobody here cares what you do with your own truck. It is shocking
to alot of people that a 2 year old vehicle was modified like this.

Myself, I daily drive my Tacoma, I suspect you do not.
    Thats a whole different deal.

I used to build lifted trucks and mud boggers back in the 80s and 90s.
In High school, I drove a 72 3/4 ton chevy that had 10" of lift and 44 inch tires.
but not daily, so I get it. To each their own poison.

Hope you get this ironed out

Right on that’s cool man. Yea I hear yall. Prolly should’ve started with a totaled Tacoma if anything. But I got this truck as a daily and then decided to go all in with the build and didn’t want to drop 20k on a used truck outright at the time. Took the truck out again today and same issues back into limp mode with only code p2111 showing today.

Yes my go to every time has been to disconnect throttle body and battery for a couple hours and then it comes out of limp mode.

I tested the throttle body connector from port 3/5 and got a 5.05v steady reading.

Check connector pins for the tension, oxidation, etc.

Get a scanner and test TPS voltage as described in post 26.

You need to verify if other wires are not damaged by checking resistance between TB connector pins and ECU connector pins. If all good, replace TB

If OP knows how to back probe.
He can do it "faster" at the ECM
Check it right at the ECM.
We know Ground and VC are good. (He checked that at the TB)

What tires are those? They look like skinnies. I have tentative plans to go up to skinny 35’s, but the tire options are few.

I checked out that tire but don’t see any skinnies above 33”.

They are Geolanders. But I don't know the model.
    I'm not a tire guy.

You all should seriously check out his IG.
    Good stuff.

I see xxx/76r16 which suggests they are 32” non-skinnies. The picture angle must me fooling my eye. OP said above he was running 35’s. Old pic?

    Ok. I missed this earlier.
Should one follow Toyota flow chart.
    It basically says,

Open live data on your scan tool.
Monitor the following data PIDs below, while wiggling the wire harness (at and) between, the Throttle body and ECM.

Throttle Position Sensor No. 1 Voltage
Throttle Position Sensor No. 2 Voltage
    And Throttle Position Command

If any values change while wiggling the harness and connectors, fix issue.
    If not, replace TB.
If TB does not fix issue, replace ECM.... (Yeah, That's a 50/50) o_O

---Since it says the TB is sticking OPEN. You might want to have a look at the TB and see if it's sticky/gummy. Have someone press and release the gas pedal while watching the TB.
Maybe it's super dirty and sticky. If so, it wont shut as fast as it needs to, and this will cause the CEL to come on.---
