Was making a generalization but if you must know .....

The moment I took it for a test drive, it hopped to a stop. Yeah salesman was there. Got fixed within a week for warped drums. He also noted the stuttering At 40mph+ and said for me to Bring it back for them to look at it. Made appt. they applied TSB 0062-18. Fixed her right up! 3000 miles later, it’s back but it also developed a vibration. Made appt and they replaced the drive shaft but still have the stuttering. Two weeks ago, the harness for radio came loose in dash and was banging around. Yeah, they fixed it. By your logic, It’s everyone else’s fault, especially the owner not Toyota’s. But since the biggies there were noted at time of test drive, it’s must be IHOP’s fault right?

Because I knew what the hopping was as soon as it happened. Not a big deal. The stuttering honestly, wasn’t even a big deal. But confidence in Toyota would address the problems was the mitigating factor. The other stuff crept up later. Like I said, I love my truck. No vehicle is perfect and this could happen to any other manufacturer.

Yes, I made that choice. I took the green pill. So I guess call me a fool for trusting in Toyota And the 750k sales figures that this is the best truck EVER!

    Toyota fans = apple fans

Most of my issues were resolved with the new tune. I think the new tune will improve everyone’s driving experience because it’s a significant change to the torque curve.

The new tune also alerted me to issues with the old tune that I didn’t realize.

Like 1)the engine was misfiring, and ping’n in first and second gear. I thought it was my own driving error that was staling the engine. But looking back on it, it was clearly misfiring. This hasn’t happened once with the new tune.

There were many complaints about misfiring on this forum, which I didn’t really take seriously. Looks like Toyota realized there was an issue and fix it covertly.

But hey, there was nothing wrong with the Original Tune right?

Sounds like many of tou should just buy a tundra. Then you can complain about gas. It being too wide is no excuse as most never even see dirt.

Misfires throw a code. Again, you are missing the entire point. For example, if people like myself have no complaint about performance, how or why can you "improve" that for them? We have no issues! If we have no issues you cannot make it negative!
I am no Apple fan. I am a Toyota and Honda fan simply for their reliability and durability.

Yup ding ding! Truck selling over 25k a month so there must be absolutely nothing wrong right? I should be able to trust Toyota with my first born according to you guys and that nothing will ever be wrong ... unless it’s my fault. Soooooo, which is it? Things wrong with it so I shouldn’t have bought it? Or things wrong and it was my fault? Can’t be both.

There has to be a certain amount of misfires to throw a code. It could still be misfiring w/o throwing a code.

You don’t want more torque in the lower rpm and a smoother engine performance? Okay fine. however, don’t tell other owners that they should just deal with it when there is an OEM provided fix available.

You can put-put along in the trash 2016 - 2018 tune. I’ll experience the true potential of this engine with other New tune converts and the 2019+ owners.
