Thats with the toyota tune right, not OV.

I honestly know fuck all about the tuning, so who am i to say. But i still trust toyota engineers more than OV. I might be completely wrong though.

Generally you are not wrong. OE guys have a lot more resources than aftermarket guys. With OV, Mat knows his stuff, in a limited fashion, as well as the OE guys.

But i thought the 3.5L Tacoma had more than enough T/HP, did you try reving it?

Question... are you this sarcastic and rude, not to mention ignorant, in real life? Or do you just become that way when your fingers are doing the talking? :notsure::jerkoff:

I think it has plenty for a midsize platform. Just not to tow heavy loads right. Thats when the tundra comes in.

Dont really get your point here.

I went on his website and tried to understand all the graphs and "tables" and man, i get nothing. I wish i could understand more how all this tuning works, as i have always been interested in how the engine operates. I even took automotive service tech apprenticeship at some point, after i finished high school. Always have been fascinated by the complex design of the engine, all the parts working perfectly together.

I understand your take on Toyota vs Mat tuning this engine. I know it's a risk, but one I'm willing to take.
Lol, he's been beating on his R&D truck with the upcoming OV twin turbo kit for months. Apparently it's still running strong. Compared to that, this N/A tune is small potatoes.

I hear you man. Im planning to keep my beast for at least 10, hopefully 15 years. I was always happy with how my truck drove, lots of power. Dont forget, Im coming from 2007 4.slow ranger, haha.

I really would like to drive a tuned taco. @tonered offered a while ago, he is the closest to me, but not the best idea at the moment. Im pretty sure I will get the Vf tune sooner or later, its just not super important for me right now, I want sliders first :) too bad they cost a fortune here.

If it’s any consolation. A new Silverado raced me onto an on ramp yesterday from a dead stop at a left turn arrow. I redlined 3rd gear-still bested him. Truck isn’t fast- but I bet that was a V8 I out performed.

Nice. Same thing happened to me with a 5.7 ram. He was surprised that i walked away from him.

Thats why i dont understand the lack of power on 3rd gen complaint, my truck rips. I told my wife that guys on the forum complain about the lack of power and she laughed.

Edit: just noticed you have the MT, right on man.

For me at least, the lack of power complaint mainly comes with the weirdness of the early factory calibrations down low. It's not really about what the hardware can do but rather how much the software would limit reaction to your input.
Throttle delay and inconsistency also made the truck seem "gutless" in certain situations.
In any case, if you like your truck stock, right on man. I believe you like it that way.

I believe it is the 2.7T also, think they use it in several other platforms too.
