So much logic in this thread. But I need to ponder this one.

Yea yea yea. And then back in the real world, real people get loans. If the real person is Savvy, they pay the loan off before it comes to term...

There's people who get Tacoma's for gas mileage? Huh?

The in dash MPG gauge is not 100% accurate. Its mainly accurate just after you top off the tank and say get on the highway for 30-min.

The best anyone can do is learn to use the cruise control, that will get you the best MPG's possible in any car. I average between 23-25mpg in my Tacoma after a top off and jumping on the highway with cruise control set between 70-80 mph.

I get that at the bottom of the hill after a couple hundred feet of a fill-up too. You have to put a fake pointer near the E on the gauge to really pull that off. Try breaking off a plastic fork leg and covering up the part where you taped it to the display.

Amusing, since 2nd gen Tacoma + Prius = 3rd gen Tacoma with new, dual cycle, more fuel efficient engine and transmission.

Don't let that stop you from having a good time, though.

I got that on a fairly level highway run. Not sure what your talking about regarding a fake pointer and plastic fork leg.

Your fuel gauge is pegged at full meaning you took that pic in the first few miles of the fresh tank. If you want people to believe that is the number for your real average tank... you need to fake an empty fuel gauge. I could probably get it to read 99mpg if I roll a mile down from the pump with the clutch in ;)

Correct, like I stated it was after a top off and a 30-min highway run in cruise control. In theory, If I continued driving the whole day with cruise control on the same road I could probably get the MPG's that the dash reported.

Ya I did so I can see what the next fuel alternative is. My taco burns the shit out of it. I feel I'm helping scientist rush to the next alternative kind of me just doing my part

I paid cash for my 2017 SR5, and even though I'm very happy with the gas mileage, it wasn't really an issue when I considered buying it.
