No. Paying cash would mean having the money before you spend it. This is borrowing the money at no cost. They are different.

I seem to have offended some of the fanboys on here. The Tacoma is a great off-road truck, and I loved 90% of mine. The part I didn't like was the mileage and highway shifting. I drive on the highway two hours a day, and the shifting and filling up every three days just got to me. My Canyon is a much better highway truck, but would make a shitty off-road truck. They each have their strengths. I found a dealer dumb enough to give me exactly what I paid for my Tacoma, and discount their truck $8900, so I traded. I check out a thread from time to time that I have some perspective on. If you don't like me on YOUR forum, block me. As many threads on here clearly show, the Tacoma ain't perfect.

Unbelievable. So what your saying is that I bought a truck that has an all new powertrain that is supposed to give me better mpg, easing some of the weight off my wallet, not a lot I agree but some and I'm supposed to take a leap of faith on it being as reliable as the previous powertrain when in fact it is getting the SAME mpg as the previous powertrain and not the advertised EPA estimates and I'm supposed to just shut up and drive it? By your ignorant logic anytime a company sells me a product and makes a claim even if those claims are proven false I'm supposed to just shut up and deal with it, really?...

You can still get a better deal though if you discuss and purchase as someone who is going to finance and then just take the cash you already have for it and pay it off immediately or relatively quickly.

I never keep a loan for more than a year, but will often pay one for a little while to get a better deal as well as raise my credit score with even more perfect payment history.

If people are really on the mileage kick you can go buy a used Nissan Leaf for 7-8k that will go an easy 80 miles on a couple bucks of juice.

I'm actually thinking of grabbing one while they're cheap. After I sold off my little diesel sipping Jetta I miss having a little run about. Only problem is they're one ugly car.

He's saying 0% is a gimmick to get you to buy. There is a finance fee already tacked on to the vehicle cost. It's just a way for you to walk away feeling good about your purchase when in reality they tacked the full interest of a low interest loan in the price. :D

You're here because you owned a Tacoma once...ok...I guess I should talk about my Subaru here because I own one...

Oh wait the Jeep Wrangler forum sucks so I am here to talk about my Jeep.

Ya right man, the reality is you're here to help your self validation for switching to the canyon. When the Canyon wears off and the 3rd gen hate eventually evaporates you won't have a band wagon to go along with.

Seriously, we know the canyon gets better mpg, no one needs you to tell us this.

You went from a 2016 lifted SR5 to a 2016 Canyon SLT. Firstly the lift itself offset the depreciation of the taco, secondly you paid significantly more for your canyon yet you complain you didnt have leather/power seats in the SR5. If you had a stock Limited your argument might have some validity. You are comparing apples to oranges.

EDIT: Bah I just learned of the ignore button. Done and Done!

I know what he is saying but it's not actually true if you are willing to walk away from a deal you don't like. If you come to an agreement on price then ask for the 0% financing... well, you get the point. The financing exists before the deal. You can still get the cash price and the financing if you introduce them in the right order :)

True. I think it may be the value of rebate they offer you the choice of. I've only purchased 1 new vehicle from a dealer and don't plan on another. I'll buy what other ppl consider old and out of date and pay cash. But to each his/her own I enjoy tinkering and have the time (usually) to keep them going. I understand not everybody has that kind of time. Back to MPG debate!

Very wrong, modifications like lifts contrary to what many think actually hinder or have no affect on resale/trade.
