For sure. Been watching coating develop for a few years now (hobby detailer) and will get one applied eventually. I have a buddy with a Challenger that sees that clack end up on the rear quarters and you're absolutely right, it's extremely difficult to get off.

Xpel stealth would really look great with quicksand.

I’ve been saying that since they released the color.

The real one that will look good is the new green in matte.

Xpel stealth would make Army green look like army Green. If I didn’t get a 2019 the plan was Army Green stealth wrapped. Would look killer

To each their own of course, however I seriously considered wrapping my C7 Grandsport front end, mirrors and rockers however after speaking with Xpel and visiting their booth at Corvettes @ Carlisle decided I could repair A LOT of rock chips for $3500.

As far as their 10 year warranty goes, if you have a defect, Xpel will find a dealer/installer who will agree to repair your wrap and accept 'free product' from Xpel in payment for their labor. Some dealer/installers will honor this some will not. At least that's what the Xpel rep told me when I asked about their warranty.

Though Xpel will 'self heal' scratches to a degree, it will not protect against denting, say for example, if someone slams their door against your Tacoma in a parking lot. I've probably have 6-8 friends who have wrapped their Corvettes from just the front bumpers to their entire cars, some are pleased, some not so much. It has much to do with the quality of the installer. When getting Xpel wrap, you don't necessarily just seek out the best price. Like I say, to each their own.

I agree. In fact I got some samples and was leaning towards that. But just the raw material was $$$. Almost the cost of a matte paint job.

Wish I could of done this before leaving the dealer lot with my truck, 9k miles and my front end looks like its been sandblasted.

@raidercraig good on you for trying to protect your paint. People here like to say "oh its just a truck, it should be scratched up" yet most of them have clean shiney paint and spend lots of time making sure the trucks look their best.

I agree. My thoughts are not the price or type of car but rather the pride you have in you car. I respect the owner that takes proper care and pride with their Honda Civic v the Tesla owner that neglected their ride.

There was a truck getting this done while I was getting my tint applied, they said he's spending $8k on it. This was for a Silverado. Doesn't make much sense for me. My truck came with a clear bra on the front, inside of door handles, and behind the wheels and that's more than i'd ever need.

I actually would think a matte inferno or matte voodoo blue would look great! I've seen an xpel stealth on an orange 911 and it looks amazing.

Kind of a waste in my opinion, your paint will be fine without it. My family had an 01 cobra that me and my brother took care of. With normal washes, waxes, and rock chip repair the paint job looked almost new still 15 years later. But to each their own. Good choice in color, looks nice.

Does the plastic turn yellow after years of being in the sun? Also, why is OP so defensive over this product. Very strange. I’m happy for you and the wrap looks great, but let people have their opinions. If you’re confident in your choice, there’s no need to continue debating with people.

I have Xpel on the upper 3rd of my tailgate, the area where you'd normally push to close. I've closed the tailgate with sand/mud etc on my hands numerous times over the years and it still looks untouched, a pricey but awesome product.

On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for all PPFs drops to zero.
Take the number of vehicles with PPFs in the field "A", multiply it by the probable rate of failure "B", then multiply the result by the average out-of-court settlement "C". A*B*C=X. If "X" is less than the cost of a recall, they don't do one.

Understood, but to be honest I just wanted to quote Fight Club in a PPF thread.

I could see doing this to a rare or very expensive car. But 5 grand to preserve the paint on a $40k truck is a bit excessive in my eyes. Just my opinion though. If you can afford it power to you. But proper care will make your paint last at a minimum 10 years and for 5 grand you could repaint and get another 10 years. Your not talking about protecting the paint on a Ferrari here, it’s just a Toyota.

I would never wrap. For $5k you can get a great paint job in any color you want. Plus I like the feel and touch of paint not plastic.
