Anyone done a map update? I have a 2017 Tacoma, just upgraded to the entune premium unit I got on eBay for a song. Want to update the map SD Card. Thank you.

I have a 2019 with Entune Premium, and haven't investigated map updates yet. Just thought you'd like to know, while you're looking for info, our Tacoma's Entune Premium is NOT the same thing as Entune Premium 3.0. My wife's Camry has Entune Premium 3.0, and there are a lot of differences.

Please post what you learn about the map updates. A lot of us will have a need in the future.

Edit: Search is our friend. It's been covered many times before.

From what I've learned, there are 3 different head units. Standard, Plus and Premium. I had the plus and upgraded to the premium. I would post a photo but when I click on the image link it wants a URL, the photo is on my C drive of my PC.

I "think" you are correct. My paperwork called it Entune Premium with integrated navigation. I do not know if there is a Premium WITHOUT integrated navigation.

I was on the fence about getting an Alpine or this. This was 1000 dollars cheaper. Got it for $350 on ebay. Really useless as far as trying to use Android Auto without purchasing more hack hardware. Also when connecting my Pixel 2 via the USB it doesn't even recognize it. And yes I have changed the settings on the phone for file transfer.

It is useless if you are wanting android auto as it doesn't have it until the 2020's come out.

I asked at my 20000 mile check when the next map update was out. Was told it won't be until November.

The current Tacoma Entune units do not support Android Auto, which is probably why you got this unit cheap, the previous owner upgraded to a better one. Also, in my experience, the USB is good for music on a thumb drive, but not for phone direct connection. I use the bluetooth connection for the phone to play Amazon music or Pandora. And as for your original question, Map cards can be purchased from the dealer. Not sure how much they are, but you are probably better off using google maps on your phone and connect the voice via bluetooth.
Pretty much hate to tell you this, but you should have spent the 1,000 dollars more and got the Alpine. :(

I don't use XM radio, but when I have it on FM radio and my phone connected, if I were to use Google maps it will only interrupt the music when it speaks a direction, then the music will continue.

Are you using an iPhone or Galaxy? The only way I could get it so I could hear the driving directions through the truck speakers is by actually using the bluetooth to hear music.

I use a Google Pixel 2, same problem. I have to be using bluetooth music to hear directions. If I'm using XM to hear music, I have to turn off the phones bluetooth and listen to voice nav from the phone. Welcome to 2009.
