I know it hasn't been 3 years for anyone that has entune on their Tacoma, but I am confused on what we would have to pay for after the 3 year complimentary service.

Why do we have to pay $5 a month for something that uses our cellphone data plan? Does entune have a service or something that I am unaware of?

If I have to pay a monthly fee for my navigation, it better start coming with free map updates!

I just read the site....it's not the navigation, it's access to the apps and "services". Guess I'll just stream Pandora via bluetooth instead of directly through the radio. It loses connection all the time anyway so no major loss.

This what you'll lose access to if you don't pay:

Entune™ is scheduled to have mobile apps for Bing™, iHeartRadio [1], MovieTickets.com [1], OpenTable® [1], and Pandora®. The data services of Entune™ include fuel prices, sports scores, stocks, traffic, and weather.

It does say that Pandora is free though, so you'll lose the rest.

Threads like this make me really really glad that I didn't get Entune...

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
No kidding, I always say fancy stuff don't belong in the truck and most of the time it's more trouble than benefit.
Example, Toyota radio in my wife's truck started skipping CDs. I figure its old so replacement would not cost much, boy I was for rude awakening. Fancy radio price wasin couple thousand dollars. so I managed to fix old one. Aftermarket replacements usually don't have connectors for steering wheel buttons . Crazy.

Completely agree. I bought entune for the JBL and it's one of the best stock sounding systems I have seen.

But still effing stupid when Iheartradio and all those other apps use YOUR OWN CELL PHONE DATA.... wtf? Doesn't make sense

I was shocked at how much they add to the cost of the truck for the nav system. When he said "about 2k" I said you better be joking.

Now he's looking for one without for us. But nearly all TRDs here come with it. I can wait.

That must be a regional thing. Most TRD's around me didn't have it.

I'm thinking that it must be a regional thing too. My TRD doesn't have entune either. I have a Garmin with lifetime map updates if I need navigation in any of my vehicles.

I just use my iphone for nav, and it gives turn by turn voice instructions over the stereo.

I mean, how easy is that?

He looked up and found 54 TRDs "near" me. All but one had it

Instead of making them more money it's costing them a sale...at least until they find me one without it.
