Entune and iPhone Messaging

I have same problems, seems pretty common with toyota...

 

Well....Don't give up on it......I've been messing with it a lot the past week and it seems that it is certainly not the best setup but, I think you can get it working. The only thing I would say for your situation is make sure all your phone settings are right and maybe go and shut it all down (phone and entune) and start it up again. You know the old computer fix "shut it off and turn it on again". Mine is a 2018 and I have it working now....And read the 5 pages of this thread....There is some good info here.

It hasn't been brought up here much but, also in the testing I did I had texts that didn't even show up in the truck and they were on both phones and my imac so I know they went through. Whatever....

I agree with #64 it works about 75% just expect to use two systems for texting. Everything else seems to be OK most of the time.
I think when Toyota starts using Carplay it will probably be better/smoother ......Supposed to be 2019 but I don't know if Tacoma will get it.

 

So what’s the best way to respond to an incoming text with this system?

 

If you need to reply right away, pull over and type it out. If it can wait, get to your destination and then type it out.

If you're referring to this system being Entune ...You can't respond to a text thru entune.
If you want to keep driving do this......

You have to go thru mobile assistant which is simple...A move of your thumb is all you have to do.

It works easy like this....

A text comes in to you.

Push read on your screen to have it read to you.

If you want to answer while you're driving move your thumb down to the "off the hook" telephone button on your steering wheel and push and hold for a couple of seconds. It will bring up the large microphone in the middle of your screen.

Say "send message"

It will ask you "to who."

You say send message to Bob or whoever it is.

It comes back and says "what is the message."

You just say the message while you drive.

It comes back and reads it back to you and asks you "should I send it now?"

You say "yes"

It is done.

It's so much easier to just pull over and type it out. LOL!

 

Mine was extremely intermittent until I had the HU software updated at the dealer. Works well now.
