Entune Bluetooth / Gracenote Default Cover Art

I realize that AD2P does not transmit cover art.

I understand that Gracenote only streams cover art for licensed / well known media.

But does that mean I have to look at this lame pic every time there is no cover art available?!



It's probably just me, but I am really annoyed by this image. A simple generic symbol or Toyota logo wasn't good enough?

Please tell me there is a way to change it!

 

The only way to change it is to disable cover art entirely. It's in the settings menu under Audio I believe. I went with this option, though I would really like to just disable the generic images.

 

I think the real cover art would only show up if you play via USB, and let me tell you, ain't nobody got time for that.

 

These generic pictures are ridiculous. I don't even know how the system decided on this classification.

 

What about the "alternative" cover art? Looks like a dude that's half David Bowie and half Marilyn Manson and that guy mated with a mime and their offspring had some teenaged angst and decided to start a band. "Oh, we home schooled little Timmy. We want him to be able to express himself freely without being judged by society."

BTW, I was very anal about making sure my iPod has all the correct cover art and I play through the USB port, but entune still uses the generic stuff.

 

They also half ass real cover art. For a Techno producer Mecca it shows me a phot of Paul McCartney

 

Carl Perkins shows a picture of Johnny Cash.

 

I had no idea there were other images for different genres. I've been playing mostly audio books, and the generic picture was for some reason highly annoying. I think it would be like placing a bunch of picture frames from Walmart around your house and leaving the sample photos inside them.

I will definitely try to find that setting again. I vaguely remember there being an option to turn off cover art. But I couldn't find it last night.

 

Just gonna resurrect this one from the dead...

On my way to buy a new '17 TRD OR I had to rent a car which happened to be a Toyota Yaris. I was very happy to notice that the album art worked perfectly via bluetooth when streaming on both Pandora and Spotify. It warmed my heart, thinking that if a POS Yaris could work it out my new truck would have no problems at all.

Smash cut to 24 hours and $36,000 later and I'm driving back down the interstate looking at these retarded generic genre pictures for album art. WTF Toyota?? You can pull it off with your bottom of the line s***box but not your flagship truck with "Premium and TECHNOLOGY" package?

Sorry, rant finished and since this is my first post I should probably add that I LOVE my new Quicksand Access Cab, album art notwithstanding.

 

Bringing this thread back to life.

We are now in Year 3 of the 3rd gen models. Is this cover art issue fixed? I find it super annoying that this system can’t show proper cover art.

 

Every modern Toyota is like that. My mom's rav4 does it with the radio only though. If I connect my spotify via BT or Aux, a picture of the artist shows up.

 

So your system actually does what it’s suppose to do. What I’m saying is that a lot of Tacoma’s have had issues with the Entune system display the correct cover art even over BT. For the most part I get zero images when playing via Spotify or my own music on my phone. If it does display an image, it’s usually a generic image and not one of the actual artist. It does display a correct image about 5% of the time.

 

Mine works just fine showing the correct cover art on all my music played through PowerAmp off my Note8 using bluetooth. I've seen a few generic ones but only if the cover isn't in the artists music folder.
Seems legit to me.

 

Those two gals come up for everything. They haunt me.

 

Tested it out again today.

I thought perhaps it was user error and I needed to switch a setting so I looked and everything was set up correctly. I then reset the head unit and nothing happened. I listen to Spotify the majority of the time and had some Florida Georgia Line on and not one song showed cover art. Instead the default Bluetooth logo was displayed. The kicker was during a quick commercial for Sam Adams beer, I got the cute chick w/ guitar logo appear. Than it went away when the song started... Lame!!!

I've also tested with Apple Music and the only artist that displays an image is Drake. Does he drive a Taco??? SMDH

I know Toyota has people watch these boards. I hope you are listening!

LOL I know. Such a little thing. I need to sound off some where.

 

I now have no doubt that joining this forum was a good decision on my part. I made it about 2 hours before I disabled the cover art after I purchased my 2018 sport because the images pissed me off. I’m now even more angry if the Yaris and Rav4 get real pics.

Edit: comment partially retracted. Displays most cover art via Bluetooth playback. XM art was what pissed me off. They have the station’s official image in the upper left corner, but then display the generic photo very prominently. Why can’t they just swap these??

 

I do everything via BT and I get Jack Squat.

 

I use pandora via BT and mine works fine.
