So I recently just received an email from Toyota saying that some apps are being removed. While some of you may like this, I personally am a little pissed. Bought the truck because of the included apps. Specifically Pandora ..now it's being removed. Might call and complain a lot tomorrow but figured I would spread the word as I have seen nothing on this anywhere else .

Hey Toyota...how about throwing us a bone and putting Apple CarPlay on it in place of the three apps you’re taking away?

    None so far.
Nah apple sucks. I would not want apple anywhere near toyota . Though I would like to see a collaboration with Bose and as far as applications go Spotify and Tidal are top quality audio apps.

Is it really that much more difficult to use your phone for Pandora?

The downside to using a phone, instead of the in-dash app, is having to open your phone while driving, which is a distraction. I press a quick button on the screen, without taking my eyes off the road, and Pandora starts playing. The 80% of the time that there aren't connectivity problems, it works really well.

What this sounds like overall, is that Toyota has either failed to obtain ongoing third party support for its apps; or it has decided that retaining the functionality of these applications in Entune is proving too expensive, and is ending support, but blaming the other companies for the change.

Either way, Toyota needs to put some serious effort into its multimedia system. Going third party isn't a viable option, due to the loss of screen real estate. I don't have a good third party solution. Which means Toyota should be solving this.

Basically what is said above. Its not hard but it is a 500 buck min ticket if caught using the phone. I cant afford that. And Toyota really does need to put an effort in to making the multimedia center better .

    Some stuff
Android auto, and Apple Car play should be standard in cars now.

    Personally, pretty disappointed with Entune.
Sometimes, itll ask me to read my texts, other just ignore, and yet others... nothing.

Pandora app has only worked 1x the whole time I've had the truck.

Yes, the major point is do stuff from the dash, not having to pick the phone.

On the other hand, a significant selling point a lot of people is the app suites.... now they take it away....

Devalued our rides, after they're paid for,......

Just turned in a Silverado 2500 work truck and it had CarPlay and Android Auto on it. Wish my Tacoma had that option. Never have cared for the Entune stuff. If I use Pandora I typically just use the app on my phone.

good riddance. the pandora app was never reliable. ive tried every way trying to connect, but it would only connect whenever the heck it felt like it. when it did connect, even though i have a paid subscription, it would say im out of skips. the only thing i prefer the app over bluetooth, is that i could thumbs or thumbs down a song. pandora app is garbage!

I'm surprised y'all are having that much issue with the Pandora app. I use it almost every day and it connects right away and starts playing. That was a big selling point for me. Now the money I spent on the hardware is kind of mute unless then randomly are going to update the software for Android Auto, but that seems highly unlikely. What's worse is that they are still touting the availability of these apps on their website as a big selling point.

I agree that it sucks they are removing stuff but:

If you bought this truck just for the apps it currently has then what did the vehicles you didn't buy have? An 8-Track player?

I'm sorry. I don't understand this. Clearly, I am not a Pandora user. I usually use Google Play, but often use PlayerPro or Poweramp to play my local files (vs streaming). In each case, my phone has no problem syncing, automatically connecting to the last used app (when the truck was turned off) and resuming playing. My steering wheel controls work fine for song skipping. I guess the only thing I am missing on the fly is rating the songs and running a playlist/radio station (which I would normally start before hitting the road).

I guess, I see the minor inconvenience in not being able to give a song the thumbs up from the truck display screen, but I guess I am failing to appreciate enough of an issue to get all that fired up about it.

I typically have the radio station set before driving as well but then I get irritated with the music and want a change of pace so I want to pick a new station. Plus the thumbs up option is perfect.

The biggest reason i am fired up is the fact that I have only had the truck since the first part of July and now I am losing an important feature that went into me buying the truck to start with.

Did they happen to mention if the update would fix the random reboot issue? The only solution I've found is to not sync my contacts from my phone to the radio...for some reason, that's the only way I don't get random reboots. At least it's making me remember people's numbers like the good ol' days.

As far as tech goes, this factory radio is outdated months, if not years, before I bought my truck. And Google and Apple in vehicle should be standard.

I dont even really know what Entune is or what it does? All my media is played easily through Bluetooth from PowerAmp, YouTube etc.
I dont bother with all that finicky built in app stuff..
According to everyone it sucked anyway.
Glad I didnt waste my time.

Wifes new XTS is the same.
Havent even bothered with the factory apps.
