'14 Tacoma TRD Sport L/B

Is there a way to stop my head unit or iPhone from automatically connecting as an audio player? I know how to disconnect it but it really sucks to have to do that every time I get in the truck. I basically want to use the head unit/iPhone only for calls. I want Siri, (phone) map directions, notifications, etc to come through my iPhone speaker, and not the head unit.
