Entune Issues, Tips, Tricks, Updates Lets hear them

Some of the garmins come with lifetime updates now. You can update 4 times a year with those.

 

Yes, when I was shopping for a truck, and looked at the one I bought, told the salesman that I liked the model but didn't care about the Entunes and map, as I have multiple Garmin units and the one for the road has free lifetime updates, plus can change the voice and a host of other features.

When it got down to deciding what p/u to buy, the Toyota dealer ended up giving me the Entune model for free as the truck had been on the lot for a spell, and the 2013 models were due to come in.

I love some of the features, but not mention of software updates, not for the map, but the rest of the system. And when I go to the site for info, get the following.

This really is lame for a big company like Toyota to do:

Well, it's buyer beware.

Picked up a fresh USB stick, formatted just to be sure it was clean.

Downloaded the two files on the root
Followed directions, and got the message asking if I wanted to update from 1.8.4 to 2.1.0

Screen went blank, light came on the USB indicating it was trying to read and now keep getting the following message:

"Please insert valid software update stick"

And that is the end

I have radio, but no map, no anything, but a blank screen and the message that keeps coming up to insert the valid software update stick.

Software upgrade came out in late July, purchased my truck in October and the version of software had not been updated.

Called the Toyota dealership, parts has nothing, they sent me to the service dept. Service department had nothing, gave me the 800 number at Toyota.

Called another dealership, parts, no luck, service dept said they have done it, but usually is a customer upgrade.

Seems like for the price one pays for the system, there would some kind of better support. Little if any on the web,and even less at the Toyota site. Guess will have to go to 2nd dealership and see if they can fix my journey into the vast cavern of software update land.

 

Hmm, that's weird. I downloaded the files from this thread and mine updated with no issues.

 

Picked up another thumb drive and will give it a go and see, maybe that was the problem. Have nothing now, no backup camera, nadda.

 

Wahoo It worked, as soon as I plugged in the very very tight new thumb drive, it started the 8 system updates,,

I think I had to reformat my hard drive to the FAT32 file system then put the files back on for it to work. I don't think the unit recognizes the NTFS file system.

 

So in my 2012 the entune worked great. Worked just the same or better after the update. Now with my iphone5 anytime i say an Artist name it just says
Artist not recognized.

I had no problem with this on my Iphone 4 But now I can not use this for the iphone 5
anyone else have this.

Does anyone notice that their ipod likes to cut in and out on some songs? I just bought a new 2013 and my Razr maxx seems to work fine for the most part sometimes it will drop i heart and pandora but I just re click the app and it starts back up if alll else fails i just turn on and off blu tooth and its fine. only issue I seem to have is with the ipod cutting in and out through the usb port also the email feature doesnt seem to work with my phone

I'm ready to purchase a new 2013 tacoma with entune...my question is will it already have the updates installed that I'm reading about in the first few pages of this thread? or will I have to get the thumb drive from Toyota and install it myself? thanks fellas

 

Yes my 2013 was already updated when i got it the system rocks and has tons of features what color Tacoma are you getting Magnetic grey double cab 4x4 trd here luv it!!

 

I plan on the white...itll be my first truck thats not dark im hoping its money well worth it

 

Did my update fine by downloading the files and using another thumb drive. Noticed I now have a couple more items such as mail and messages, however they are greyed out. So I called Toyota, got answered on third ring and a live person in only two steps.

Asked tech support if they have any documentation on the 2.1.0 upgrade and functionality.

Got back the question of where did I get my upgrade, and told him it was "In the cloud". He said he would mail me a thumb drive anyway so that I had the "official version" in case I had any issues. Very nice I thought.

So asked him again about docs, he said none to be released but ask any questions. Said the mail issue was a problem because of so many different formats and individual settings, but they were working on it. The message system was kind of clunky but again, it is in infant stage.

Also have pictures on the screen, but said that the format pictures had to be in was an issue.

Still though, think the system is getting the wrinkles worked out, and agree with the issue around so many different phones, formats, and service providers. So asked that they at least get MINE first

The XM went dead yesterday :-(. 90 days sure goes by fast. I have been gonna transfer my account from my old dead truck to my new one, next week. Guess I need to work on procrastination issues.

I would be nice to get rid of all the "continue" hits when first starting up the system each time, even though they are pretty fast, but one time, in the beginning, should be enough. Also wish you could enable the passenger to do input while moving. I keep trying to use the dinner reservation system, but Taco Bell does not take reservations. I am driving a Toyota, not a HumVee, don't eat at places that require reservations.

Gonna keep a close eye on this thread, cause hope to learn more about the system, whenever there is more to learn.

 

My entune prompted me today to install 2.1 over the air it said update now or later then updating 1/10 sports it was real fast no delay noticed my pandora now shows all of my saved stations not just a few
anyone else notice anything good?

 

Well, on my way to Costco tonight, got the message across my screen that a system update was ready, so it downloaded via cell phone and updated the Sports section.

Not sure what it did as I had not paid any attention to it before, but it was nice to see that an upgrade occurred.

 

I haven't gotten any notice of update for it lately :? Is there some sort of new update for it?

 

Ya when i clicked on a app today and my phone was paired it prompted for the 2.1 update on the screen of the radio

 

Any differences on the update?

I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.latest on it and Entune 2.1

I can't see who sent a text message and so I can't reply to them either. All I see is the message contents.

Anyone in a similar predicament? Have you solved it?
