I use several apps on my '14 and don't have a problem with etune. I think it's a good system and just wish they'd open it up to outside development so we could write apps for it.

Maybe someday I'll try to crack it so I can put my own apps onto it. :D

A Bluetooth ODB2 reader app on the stock screen with engine sensor statistics on digital gauges would be pretty sweet.

So just returned from being in a very remote region without HD signal. I had cell reception about 60% of the time. Once I got out of HD range, weather and traffic function stopped working. According to the manual, the system can be set to work off of hd or cell signal. I set the system for both, but it would still only work when there is a hd signal. Any ideas? Maybe a setting on my iPhone needs to be changed?

I can't get the text messaging function to work on mine with my phone at all. Anyone else had this issue?

Oh, and I downloaded the Entune app, and when it prompted me to enter my VIN I did and it tells me it's not valid. LIARS!!!

2014 is confusing, you probably don't have the highest level they offer as far as Entune goes.

Text messaging works fine for me but it's more distracting than just using my phone so I never use it.

It's Entune Plus, and has the messaging option. I tried to connect then just gives up. My phone supports Bluetooth MAP as well. I haven't tried deleting my phone and then re-pairing it yet. I read somewhere that might work. We'll see, it's not the end of the world.

I had to go into my iPhone settings an enable the text feature, after that it worked on the HU.

You may or may not have the proper wiring harness. Check for yogasters thread in audio subforum about 2014 radio into 2013 he covers this.

Also, does anyone else find that the volume control is crap on these new units? I mean, most new vehicles in general, even my Mom's new Mazda CX5 is like this. Anyway, with the Entune, I honestly can't hardly hear anything below Level 25. I think those levels were designed for people who park in sound proof garages and listen to music in utter silence. On the highway, especially with additions like the TRD exaust, anything below 25 is useless. Increasing volume by 1 or 2 bars at a time is pretty much no change, so I have to crank it by 5-10 at a time. Maxed out at level 55 or so, the speakers get muddy as hell, and really aren't even that loud.

Stupid gripes I know, and I plan on replacing the speakers anyway for better quality, but it just feels like a cheap cop out to me by these manufacturers. Anyone else feel the same?

right here! in fact i made a thread about it.... the sound is horrible, i actually like the headunit but from what some posted in my thread and from what i read in the stereo section, changing speakers wont really "change" much, i think it all comes down to the headunit but im hoping im wrong and replacing speakers can at least make some difference..... any speakers you recommend?

but like i said i actually like the headunit, i really only listen to radio on it anyways and i have enough with local stations and sirius radio, i just want better sound, my old 2001 ford mustang has a better stock sound system than my new 2014 tacoma

Glad I'm not the only one.

I'm not 100% sure which direction I'm going to go yet. I know I'm doing speakers, and adding an amp is also an option for extra punch if needed. Diamond Audio has always been ingrained in me to be great speakers, and I plan on doing some 6.5 components up front, so we'll see.

    - Settings

    - Bluetooth

    - (i) - Circled "i" for the device (Tacoma)

    - Enable the Show Notifications

Once I did this it will notify me of texts and read them to me while driving.

On my 2012 Entune with the JBL set-up, the volume is fine. I can cruise down the highway with my fairly noisy tires with the volume at 10-15, no problem.

I just Upgraded to Alpine type R 6x9 front and 6 back and a 75 watt 4 channel Alpine AMP under passenger seat. Huge difference in sound. 2014 dbl cab Entune with Nav. Very good system. Once you get use to the nav, it is really intuitive. I also love being able to find destinations using the entune app on my phone then uploading to the head unit saved destinations app. I suggest spending some time playing with it and reading the manual. Also Toyota support is great. They have a head unit on the bench and will work out problems with you in real time.

Does anyone know what file type or size the start-up image needs? I tried to upload a wallpaper image via usb but it didn't work.

Anybody's Entune just randomly stop displaying info transmitted from Pandora? Stock music apps work, but no Pandora. Weird.

So here is my short list of things not working properly with Entune and my iphone 4s

    - phone randomly disconnects from bluetooth - at least once every other trip.
    - phone randomly disconnects from usb connection.
    - phone calls via bluetooth will drop back to my iphone speaker about 75% of the time.
    - Entune will randomly drop contact information and only display phone numbers rather than contact names.
    - messaging works less than 25% of the time. Some messages come in, and others do not.
    - Music title art does not update when using the USB connection. Unplugging and plugging back into USB updates the title art.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems and if so what phone do you have? In general, it appears very unstable and does not work as advertised.
