Question - I know the OEM Navi system prevents most of the buttons when the vehicle is in motion. Does anyone know how to disable this?

    I'm 99% sure that's not possible.

I feel like it should be possible. I know you can do it with GM vehicles by overriding the system, it just takes some techie knowledge.

I think you will soon learn that Entune is "glitchy" at best. I tried for awhile to like it, but now I just pretty much use my smartphone for everything. the Entune app is almost worthless.

Oh I can agree with that lol. I never use the Entune app itself (I suppose I named this thread wrong), but I do use the navigation quite often.

Yes, navigation input is locked out when vehicle is moving. its how all toyota nav systems are programmed.

Some guy posted a tutorial a while back. It worked, but it basically required you to install a switch that tricked the vehicle into thinking it wasn't moving. You had to flip the switch, manipulate the Entune system, then flip the switch again.

It worked but sounded too complex to be worth it for most people.

    I see it now. Thanks.
^^^ I'm assuming that is what you're talking about. I had a feeling it would come down to that. With other car brands you can press buttons in sequence to disable it, but apparently Toyota doesn't want to play. Well thanks guys.

nothing wrong with the Entune navigation, it's pretty accurate. it just lacks "smart" directions, that give you better routes based on current traffic, like google or waze does.

    Physical mods only.

I may have done it to a customers vehicle outside of work once or twice.

Yeah I agree it works well. I just wish I could use more of it while I drive since there is only so much you can do with voice guidance.
And it may have cost them a 6 pack.....

Well considering you are on TW it was a given. For about 90% of the population here the common language is beer with some sarcasm on top. The other 10% is bro.

I'm on TW because I like helping others and I work for toyota, and have a Tacoma. I know the 3G Tacoma isnot yet up to Bro standards, but we will get it there.
I'm gonna have to trade my SR5 for a TRD BRO and be a heBro here...bro.

I love my Tacbroma.. I loved my 2nd gen too. I may actually like this one more, despite it being on the receiving end of the learning curve.. but yeah. You have to give extra love to those who lack a little.
