The upgraded entune system was one of the reasons from Toyota for us to upgrade. The fact that they’re abandoning this system makes me wonder if we can hold them liable to upgrade to us to CarPlay for free down the road if it comes out

I concur and believe there is merit to your statement. Entunes Premium package is a costly upgrade , especially even after wards from the dealership. To abandon 3rd party app support at the drop of a hat from all the loyal toyota customers has to invoke some sort of backash....

I just got a card in the mail that Entune will no longer support Pandora and a couple of other apps, but that was after the first of the year?

What's the point of Entune now? It wasn't great before and now it serves no purpose. Damn.

This was the reason I went with and paid extra for the entune. As far as I'm concerned, if they are going to do this, then they should rebate me the money I spent on it. They are deliberately hobbling something I paid for and not getting the value. Is there anything Toyota is going to do about this?

Did you really use the head unit to look up movie ticket prices And reserve restaurant tables on advance? Lol it was a joke. It needs to be more functional not crappy apps nobody uses. People use their phone, they need android auto. Nobody surfs Facebook from their head unit entune app that requires you to login to your phone app first before you can even use the head unit version.

The issue is not if it was used or not. (Since I agree most apps were not practical). But Toyota did charge a pretty penny for the Entunes Premium package upgrade. And it was literally thousands of dollars if you were to purchase it after the fact from the dealership. I will say I for one never had any issues with the Pandora app, I still use it daily to and from work - and it is awesome and commercial free with out having to pay for a monthly subscription! And now its being taken away from me?!?!?!? There is no other word to express my frustration other that this is total Bull$hit!!!!

I actually used a lot of the functions on the touch screen or my passenger did if I couldn't. I thought it was functional, it worked, and it provided a value for me. Facebook not so much, but that's irrelevant. It's there, I paid for it and now they are taking it away without any compensation and I bought my 2017 new in Feb.

While I agree it's bs, you're not losing the touchscreen or any features. You're losing 3 crappy apps nobody cares about. You still had to run things from the Entune app and then use your head unit, so just use pandora app on your phone. Either way it was still streamed via bluetooth so no change in quality

I think you're missing the point here. I'm losing functionality I paid for. Whether I use it or not is irrelevant. I paid for it. It's being taken away without compensation.

I agree with Methadras....TacoPueblo, You make it sound like its a two step process because it goes though the Entune app first, its just works when the truck is started with no interaction, no touching the HU or the phone. Just in case you havent used it or it doesnt work for you like so many people have said. Either way we ARE loosing functionality. Since some people actually use the apps. Period. As I mentioned earlier, but may not have been clear , the pandora on my phone is NOT commercial free like the Entunes app is. Just because you think they are crappy apps, not all feel the same. Step back and look at it objectively. There is no issue with the bluetooth quality I agree that is the same but the basic overall experience IS different.

This was one of the features I was looking for when I purchased my truck. This is no different than if they took away any other feature. If you paid for heated seats or cruise control, or a fracking leather steering wheel and they took it back it would be theft. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT. Call 1-800-331-4331 that is the number in the email or on the card they sent out and let them know how you feel. Be nice to the customer service agent, they didn't do it after all, and ask them to file a complaint. Get them to give you an official case number. Maybe if enough people call they can stop this crap from happening. If not then maybe as markmizzou suggested there needs to be a class action lawsuit.
P.S. if they can add Carplay to the newer model Toyotas then they can probably patch a lot if the older models apps to include Carplay or an alternative that doesn't require operating Pandora from my phone.

So if they add car play, you'll pay more right? Cause you haven't paid for it.. or does it only work one way?

What's the price you would pay for it?

I took the time today to call 1-800-331-4331 and voice my concerns and open a case with my complaints. I would advise everyone to take 5 minutes and do this since the representative did indicate they are actively monitoring and collecting all information regarding this Entunes app removal to see what will be done to replace Pandora. Apparently they are working on some sort of replacement but of course the lady i spoke with had very limited information on what will be coming in the future. She was very friendly of course and made it clear Toyota does want to hear from people and WANTS people to call so they can have better metrics on the people affected and of course what they would like to have in lieu of the apps being taken away. Being in the Android camp I am leaning towards Android Auto of course.....

Not sure I understand the "does it only work one way". I would hope that I wouldn't have to pay for it since it would be to replace something Toyota took from owners. I paid for Entune Premium, they are taking away features so...

But you didn't pay for that exact feature. You said you want what you paid for. So you want to literally sue them because Facebook and the movie ticket app and such couldn't come to an agreement on paying them then of millions to have their app on Toyota, so you want to be compensated. If that's the case, using that logic, any time you get something that wasn't part of your first original deal then the entity should be compensated, so since you didn't pay for any upgrades, I'm asking how much you are willing to pay Toyota for any upgrades. Long paragraph for a simple question. Just looking for a dollar amount is all for what it's worth to you.

Of course I paid for that exact feature. I researched trucks before I bought one. I paid extra to get Toyota Entune Premium. If you go to their site and select build a truck then you have options. None of those options are free. Just look at the trim packages and see the difference in price. So if I chose that truck and one of Toyota's selling points is App Suite with integrated Pandora controls, then how is it you think I didn't pay for it. Here is an exact quote from the current Toyota site about Pandora.
"Pandora® — Create and listen to personalized music stations that stream directly to your vehicle. You can also create and personalize stations based on a specific song or artist you enjoy." It still says that on the current site because that is a selling point.
Also quoted from the current site under FAQ.
"Do all Entune™ audio systems come with the App Suite?
