So, I know so many people hate the entune systems which I never truly understood because mine has been fine for 2+ years. Well the good times have come to an end. I have the entune audio with the apps button but no nav in my 2014 tacoma. It's started freezing on one screen when I'm playing my Spotify through it (which is literally all I use it for pretty much). So it'll show the same song no matter what song is actually playing. Well now it's also not showing me certain settings. Like I'll go in to change a setting and all but one line will be blacked out and I can't change that setting. It happens for each of the settings but I'll attach a picture of just one so you can see what I mean. I called the stealership and asked if this is something covered under warranty (diagnostic and whatever they need to do to fix it). They said "I don't know" and then wanted to charge me $152 for a diagnostic fee that WOULD NOT be covered if they decided this was a warranty issue. I'm at 68,400 miles btw. So yea not going there. Anyone have similar issues? Know what to do?
    Thanks!

Oh and the picture I chose is phone settings as you can see and my phone was connected so that wasn't the issue.

Check the firmware version on your unit then check the current firmware version on the owners section of the Toyota site to see if yours is out of date. I’m not sure if your unit has a USB port but I was able to upgrade mine through its USB port. Thankfully no dealer visit required.

I went to the website to check to see if there's updates and it says there's not. Mine was last updated 04/2017 :annoyed:

Is the version on your entune system older than the 4/2017 version? Unless you told the dealer to upgrade your firmware I’m guessing you have the original firmware version which shipped on your 2014. I’m pretty sure the update I installed was from 2017.

They told me they updated it but I'm not sure if that means the firmware or not... Where would I look at on my entune to find the firmware version? And then where would I look at online to see if it's the updated one? Other than this website? https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/downloads

My entune says last updated 04/2017 which is when it was at the dealership to get it looked at. Here's the software info

Go to Toyota.com and look for the owner sign-in section. Look for the Entune update and compare that number to the numbers displayed on your unit. One of those should match if you have the latest update. It sounds like you do since the dealer performed the update but it can’t hurt to double check.

Thank you. It seems like I already have the most updated version for the entune without nav. There is an update for entunes with nav for 2014 tacomas that says is supposed to improve intermittent display freezing which is what's happening with me... Ugh. I wish there was an update for the one without nav

Bummer that you already have the latest firmware version.
The only other thing I can think you could try would be to pull the radio fuses out for a few minutes then reinstall them. I believe there are two fuses. Maybe you will get lucky and the problem will clear itself with a full entune unit power cycle.

Just had my 2015 into Toyota for an entune issue. Radio just shuts off while driving then automatically comes back on. 40k miles on my truck They charged me $80 to do a software update. Next day driving to work just 5 minutes in it shuts off again. Call Toyota back and told them they said to bring it back in. I have an appt next week to drop it off. I called Toyotas 800# and talked to the entune department and told them everything she made me a case number incase it doesnt get fixed this next time.
I saw a post on tundratalk that people are having the same problems as we are. A guy over there said they know all about it and have had problems for years.

You could always try what this guy did. It worked for him.

My radio actually works fine 99% of the time it just cuts off once in awhile.

Dealer tried disconnecting the battery and resetting it but that didn't work either. So I just gave up. It still shuts off once a day but then it comes back on so F-it

I feel you man, my entune with nav just kept resetting all the time after trying to update it. I couldn't even install new update because I wouldn't have enough time before it reset. I read extensively that these are notorious for being a POS. I said f**k it and went with a new Alpine HU and speakers.
