is there any other way to switch the entune touchscreen from day to night mode besides the button in settings>display? I find it kind of annoying it doesn’t go to night mode automatically when you turn on headlights or something. In the 4runner there’s a brightness wheel that changes all inside dash lighting brightness, if only the Tacoma had that. Thanks.

Mine dims when I turn on the lights. I've never messed with the settings for it, maybe when you do it manually through there, it disables it doing it with the lights.

Mine dims when I turn on the head or marker lights. I think it’s like that too using just using driving lights. But it does have a dash light brightness/dimmer. The little black thing protruding out the cluster panel... turn it right for brighter and left for dimmer.

If I understand your correctly, your comment refers to switching the colors to day/night vs. just auto adjusting the brightness.

I believe the responses above refer to the brightness, not the color scheme on the maps etc.

I think I read it correctly? He mentions that the brightness of entune isn’t changing when he turns On his headlights. There’s a setting in entune I believe. But he mentions dash lighting brightness and wished the taco could do that. It does with the little black thing sticking out of the cluster.

    Apologies. Mind blown here.

My experience has been that the colors require manual switch, the brightness is tied to headlight switch.

Hmmmmm. I need to figure out how to get it to auto switch, or find out why mine is malfunctioning.

On mine the black thing sticking out only changes the color of the multi function display in the dash. The rpm and speed doesn’t change brightness. Only turns on when headlights or 3rd light setting is on, but the DRL is on the gauge cluster is dark. Also DRL makes it so that the entune touch buttons are brighter, but on 3rd light setting or headlights they are darker.

With entune (my radio) I can check a box that keeps the radio brightness at a constant level and doesn’t change when I turn on or off the headlights. If I uncheck it, the brightness changes. Might be vice versa but premise is the same.

Changing colors, I do that by going into the settings menu on the gauge cluster.

The black thing, if I twist left, it dims the brightness of the dash lights. If I twist right, the brightness increases. And yes, your lights have to be on for you to increase, decrease brightness.

Yeah, having lights, marker lights, and DRL’s on, it darkens my entune brightness. Like night mode if you will.

I just got my first Tacoma on Black Friday, and this is the only thing I find annoying about the truck. Why does the auto headlight sensor only come with the premium packages?? It's been well over 10 years since I had to manually turn on headlights. In the case of my Tacoma, it effects the night/day mode of dispay. I guess the most logical fix is to replace the head unit with an aftermarket brand???

Heck, my old 2015 Dodge Dart has auto headlights. My 2018 Tacoma doesn’t.
