I have updated twice so far: once when I bought the car (April 21) and earlier this week. I didn't notice a difference in the camera, but I didn't notice anything else, either.

Regarding the random reboots: I had a 2014 Highlander, and it would randomly reboot throughout my ownership of the car. I called the dealership when it first happened, and I was to bring it back in for a free (8 hour) program update. After the update, it only rebooted once per week. I didn't go back to have it looked at.

I'm no expert, but I think the new system brain goes haywire sometime.

I noticed the same thing. I did the update as I was backing out of the garage to wash it. I thought I must have cleaned the backup camera extra well or I was losing it one!

I installed the update this morning. Before installing selected the "Details" prompt for a look at what would be installed updated. The only things in this update were apps like IheartRadio and such. After the install there was no headunit reboot either which implies nothing "system-related" was updated. I also checked the software update screen afterwards and it was blank - meaning no updates to the base system.

I'll take your word for it. One thing that might have happened though was an adjustment to the default color settings for the camera. They are avaliable to be modified on the head unit.
