Entune weather

    So, I just checked mine (2017 Off Road) and it works without difficulty. I got the update “push” in the past two weeks. If you use the voice interface, press the steering wheel button and say “show weather forecast” and you should get this (after starting, wait 5 min for data load):

    Please note the “HD Weather Channel” icon in the bottom right of the above screen. As far as I know, that’s the source data. If it’s not there, something’s not right. I’d be interested to see if others on this thread have the same source? This is air broadcast BTW, no phone interface required.

    You can also say “show Doppler weather map” and you should get this:

    If you go to the audio apps screen, then select FM, an FM station should pop up. The app should show if it’s an HD broadcast (note the “options” button on the top). This is WTOP in DC:

    Note the “HD” icon at the top left. If you push “options,” you should see this:

    Note that “HD” is active. That means HD is working correctly.

    So, I’d troubleshoot like this: (1) check for an HD weather icon on the forecast (also accessible by going to APPS then WEATHER then CURRENT WEATHER). If that won’t load, then (2) check the FM source for HD signal. If you have a GOOD signal, and FM is playing in HD, one of two things are likely the problem. Either the weather source data has dropped off HD broadcast, or there is a bug in the software.

    This is exactly how mine was until two weeks ago, it just Completely stopped working, I still get traffic but no weather. I just get message that says No HD Signal available. I get the HD logo on fm stations.

    Double check that you accepted the update and it fully downloaded, and also reboot it again by holding in the on/off knob for 10 seconds. It’s worth a try.

    Well, that’s NOT good. The other suggestions about reboot, or deep diving into the “setup” options to fix may work, but I doubt it. Key thing is that it happened after an update “push.” Just looking at the posts, it may be that this is affecting “older” headsets.

    Knowing what I do about mobile communications, Toyota likely has a licensing agreement with the Weather Channel to use their data. The incoming “data packet” has identification codes (or “tags”) with it that must match a “tag” in the software of the receiver. If these two don’t match, the incoming data won’t display because the receiver is not shown as a “licensed product” for using it. If I had to guess (and it’s just a guess) the latest Toyota “push” didn’t include either updated “tags,” or overwrote the old “tags” with invalid data. As a result, a “handshake” isn’t occurring allowing the data to be displayed.

    This can be fixed on the backend by Toyota by either sending updated “tags” to the Weather Channel for broadcast, or by another update “push” to affected headsets.

    I’d suggest everyone begin e-mailing Toyota (or using their website) to report the issue, because once they start seeing multiple reports, they likely will recognize it as a “bug” and fix it. This is a warrantee issue, BTW.

    Mine is still under warranty. I took it to the dealership last Tuesday. They played with for about an hour and a half and said they have no idea. The service manger told me the technician said we don’t get weather in this area and it is only available in Wisconsin. I told him repeatedly that I’ve used the feature every day for the last 30 months. He said they were going to research it more. Who at Toyota should we email?

    I have a suggestion. Unrelated, but similar, My wife has a 2018 Rav. The voice recognition suddenly stopped a few weeks ago, it would just say it was not available and it never came back. I checked for and installed an update tot eh HU but it did not fix the issue. Took it to the dealer, they could duplicate but were unable to fix it. The dealer's "Master Tech" called Toyota to dertmine course of action replace, or some firmware fix. After a couple days the Service writer called me and knowing that I am both capable and prefer to do a fair number of things myself gave me the procedure from Toyota.

    Turn car on
    Do not allow it to connect to phone (turn of phone BT)
    Go to options
    Chose delete all personal data
    DO NOT turn car off until it is done
    Turn off car
    Disconnect battery for NO less than 30 minutes
    Reconnect battery
    Start car
    Check voice function

    He also told me that it "may" not work and asked me to let him know either way. He did say Toytoa is aware of that issue and are working on a HU update but had issued no ETA at this time.

    It took 2 attempts for this to work for me. 1st time I gave it 45 minutes and the problem was still there. Second attempt I gave it 2+ hours and it fixed the issue.

    You might give it a shot.

    Also, check the Toyota download area https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/getUpdates yours may not be updated. The update may do nothing for your issue, but worse case it still does not work .

    I'm three hours from HD reception. You receive weather through your phone connection when you aren't receiving HD FM.

    But I'm not getting the weather now either.

    So the area I live in has a few fm and a couple of am stations that are HD. How can I find out which one carries the weather channel? I’m NW of Chicago.

    I have the latest Entune updates and get get weather updates no problem through the Entune app on my phone. Live out in the country so no HD radio stations nearby to verify if that still works.

    I'm straight west of chicago about 50 miles out. Checked mine yesterday. Took a few times to get the radar map to load. said no HD signal something or other. then it loaded just fine. Never listen to FM but I check the HD signal on 101.1

    I live three hours from the nearest HD FM station.

    When there is no HD FM signal the system gets the weather from the internet via the phone.

    I did this procedure this morning. When I restarted it displayed mandatory update. I did the update, repared my iPhone and everything is working again!
