So for a Factory head unit, it does have a lot of nice features compared to most. I would like in dash navigation though. I am looking at Kenwood or Pioneer in dash units. Do you have to keep buying updates for these head units every year for maps? Or do they come with lifetime maps like most Garmin Nuvi's now?

most require map updates, but frankly unless you are living in an area where lots of new roads are being built, the navteq data is pretty good even if it's 8 years old

I would look at the new 8 or 9" alpine decks, they have "perfect fit" kits for the tacoma which allows you to use all your factory stuff and still get a much bigger/nicer screen.

Isn't that well over a brand or more? Do you have a link to it
