    A beautiful truck and XKE.

    My truck is a 1995.5 Tacoma V6, 4X4, Extended cab. 5 speed.
    ECU I bought is for a 1997 Tacoma V6, 4X4, Extended cab. 5 speed

Do I need to repin the 1997 or is it a plug and play? If repinning is needed what pins in what block.

Will the 1997 ECU show up on a smog test?

I am using the black supercharger. 5lb pulley. Injectors are not stock they are 305 not 245. Fuel pump upgrade. A Unichip piggy back unit.

Your truck the 1997 is beautiful. Are you running a fuel or timing programable unit on it, such as a URD or what make?

Are you still running a stock cat on it or have you upgraded. If upgraded which one?

    Thanks,
    George

    Thanks 4 the thumbs up,

I’m not 100 percent sure because my truck I didn’t have to change anything out.

ECU will not show up on the test.
What ECU number did you get?

From what I’ve heard it is plug and play, but you have to have the same options on the ECU
that’s says 4x4, manual if that’s what your truck is.

My cat is the stock OEM and original, no need to change that.

I’m running a methonal kit with stock injectors and 11.5 pounds of boost.

With the snow methonal kit tuned correctly you don’t need any of that other stuff but you need to
refill. There are a lot of pros with the methonal. It will pretty much eliminate heat soaking too.
If you read though my build page I have a ton of info including the Volvo MAF swap.

The ECU is from a 1997 Tacoma that is the same type as mine. The difference is that mine is a 1995. The models are identical. V6, 4X4, 5 spd, extended cab.

Some people claim that a CEL will come on because of a EVAP valve switch the 97 has that the 95 does not. Anyone experience this? How do you correct the issue and prevent the Check Engine Light from coming on.
Someone said it can be done with a diode. Some claim with a resister. Where is that actually switch located? Once you know the wiring there has to be a way to stop the CEL from coming on.

Also I have read that the 95 did have the switch. Any input on this. I looked up the part and it does show up on the 95-99. Anyone know the wiring on the VCS (?) switch?

    Thank you,
    George

The resistor is used when doing the ERG delete.
    You have an EGR valve?

The truck has no EGR valve. It came from the Toyota with no valve.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
1995 trucks have an EVAP solenoid but not EVAP pressure sensor. He's likely missing an EVAP pressure sensor and the ECU doesn't like that

If I am missing the EVAP Pressure Sensor what can be done to prevent the ECU from throwing a CEL.
If I did have one where would it be located. Can you wire in anything that would stop the ECU from throwing a CEL? According to Toyota the truck came with a
    Toyota Part No.:89460-35010
    SENSOR ASSY, VAPOR PRESSURE
The part was for 1995 to 1996 3.4 Engine as well as well as the 2.7 L engine. It is now discontinued. Is this the same thing?
Any and all help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    George

Does anyone know where the EVAP pressure sensor can be wired in? Or in where it is connected in the ECU? What group (plug) and what pin? This is probably the last challenge that I have with the ECU conversion from the 1995 to 1997. Any and all help would, even guesses would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you,

How do you do an EGR delete. My 1995 does not have one. The 1997 ECU does have a pin for the EGR. Can you please let me know how to use the resistor to delete the signal from to the 97 ECU. Speedtech 7 I would appreciate some help here.

    Thanks,
    George
