Lol. Dude provided a link. That's on him.
If I were getting paid to do something that the owner had to assist in any shape way or form, then I shouldn't be doing it. Sounds like fault is fitty fitty. Finger pointing time.
In my shop, if anyone has to help me, gosh forbid the end customer, i won't do it. I am the expert. They are the customer.

Owner told shop where to find directions. It's on both of them.

    what a fiasco.

    lesson learned:
supply the directions with the item, even better, buy said item from install shop. whatever you saved buying somewhere and having htem install it was all lost in hassle and time to 'fix' the error with customer-supplied parts.

I don't see how. Part of being the paid expert is being able to do your own homework. I get handed vague instructions and napkin drawings all the time. If it's something that I don't do daily it's on me to look up and familiarize myself with the method before making the donuts. That's why I'm the expert - not because I know everything in my field, but because I know where to look up the reference, and then read, understand, perform, and validate what it says.

So despite what my customers say or hand me, I don't touch it until I locate a valid procedure. That's part of my job. I expect to hold the same standard to the businesses I contract work to.

    It's not a 50/50

Just had a whole house gas conversion for a realtor friend of mine . 15 year old IPI Direct vent fireplace completely stoned in to the 25 foot ceiling. Was told parts DO NOT exist any longer to convert it. I had to cross reference and supply my own pieced together kit to get all of the OEM parts to make the job work. Either that or tear it out. It was easier to charge $2500 to spend a total of two hours diagnosing, procuring and repairing the NLA parts to get it right than removing the stone wall to replace the whole unit.

I guess I have some part of the blame but they literally have my number for questions. I didn't just give a link we literally looked at the bumper together and he actually watched part of the install vid with me. They said they got confused because I had them put in a c4 fab part as well and they thought the bumper was from c4 also. Who knows, what's done is done. Just want to get it fixed now.

Don't know if it will hep you but this Cowles trim tape did wonders for my blunder. It only comes in carbon so you have to color match it but ...for what it is worth.

I kinda like it. Get yourself some mesh for that slot and it would look pretty sweet

I vote for the mesh. After a second look. Should look pretty cool.

Unless that trim tape covers a 2" gap that may not do enough

I looked up the C4 low profile bumper install and thats exactly what they did. That bumper really tucks in tight and requires that section to get cut out.

Both bumpers have their manufactures logo cut into to them so they didn't even bother to look at what they had to install.

Another option is to have them put the C4 bumper in and they can sell yours to someone else. It may be cheaper for them and work out better for both of you.

I'll pitch the idea, I think they've already started on the repairs and color matching. I wouldn't mind either bumper, they're almost identical. However I doubt they would buy the bumper from me, I live here in Jeep country. They wouldn't be able to sell that for squat. I just want it fixed tbh.

Damn, just read that the C4 Bumpers come bare steel, I'd have to get it powder coated as well...

^^ This is the best reasonable path moving forward. All the rest are just wishful thinking in a perfect world. Theres not much the OP can do short of going to small claims court for damages . A lesson learned .
