Damn man. When you put it that way I guess I should quit my bitching. I'm sorry you have to go through that. But yes, blood sugar is a concern and I'll be upping my lantus quite a bit and cutting carbs back.

I applaud your resiliency, man. I've got one disk gone (L5-S1) and the two above are almost gone. I'm hoping everything I've learned through the long medical process will help me delay the loss of more disks.

I’ve seen people have good luck and some not. I personally had no luck with cervical shots.

What do you do for most of your days? Do you have a desk type job or are you always standing/moving? When my back gives me problems it seems the move I stand and move the better I am.

Its worth a shot, no pun intended. You aren’t gonna get any worse. Hopefully you get put under twilight BC those shots hurt like a SOB sometimes.

You have every right to bitch. All this shit sucks. It's just a matter of dealing with life and making the most of it. We went on the AOAA trip last year and had a blast. I bailed a little early because all the bouncing around was killing my back. These guys wonder why I don't go on their rock crawling trips it's because it hurts too damn bad so why? It sounds like you are prepared for the shot it's not a bad procedure and takes a few days to really work. My first one lasted quite a while the last one only a couple of months.
On a side note: Dr said no to me stopping Metformin. She said my sugar would get worse and I would gain weight. I've had 4 lows, numbers have come down all together, and lost 10 pounds. I am still on Novolog for pre meals, Tresiba each night, Glimiperide, and Januvia

I had a herniated disc in my back for 11.6 years. Pain everyday sometimes it was real bad. Finally got it worked on and it took back surgery. 5 months recovery time, and today I feel 20 years younger. The surgery gave me my life back. 100% success in my opinion. I still have to watch what I do, exercise every morning, and make sure I don't try to lift the world. For over a decade I tried everything from acupuncture, Chiropractors, cocaine, to anything I could ingest. Nothing fixed my back until I got surgery. Today I wheel, ride motorcycles, run through the forest and surf. Hope it all works out for you. Get well soon Brother.

The physical work I have always had to do has just expidited things. Thanks, but I'm nothing special just an old redneck boy that has to earn a living. I have no choice but to just keep going until I can't. I have realized there will be no real enjoyable retirement for me I will simply work until I can't then I'll be so jacked up I won't be able to do much. It is what it is no pitty party for me I don't give myself any. Good luck with your circumstance and be vigilant in how you handle yourself lifting and turning.

I’m in the car a lot and at a desk. Nothing physical or strenuous. But to your point I feel better when I’m moving around, fishing, etc.

Is all this back pain from poor back genetics or is it mostly stemming from injuries / laborious work history?
Curious as my mother has some back pain that seems to be from genetics, and I'd like to be sure I hear people stories so I can try and avoid risks etc.

In my case my Mother has a horrible back as well so part of it is genetic I am sure. The 30 some years of doing body work and fabrication has just sped things up.

LOL I wish we had something more pleasant in common. Sometimes life sucks but it beats the alternative

LOL I hope it's not the white trucks screwing our backs up. Actually messing with the truck is my stress reliever
