In that first image, it looks wider than your cab rack. Yes?

Yep, the cab rack is a prinsu. It's 3/4" difference on each side to be exact. That little bit of space helps a ton when two kayaks are side by side. The widest part of our kayaks are right in that area at the start of the bedrock.

Thanks man. I was a little skeptical with the cab rack being a prinsu that they may look odd together. But I think they actually look pretty good together.

I technically can't take credit for the idea. The guy that I bought my shell from had two bars on there and that's what he used. So I stole his idea. They were great to help distribute the weight evenly.

Ahh, that's why you have the inner bars in a different spot than the tracks....makes much more sense now. In any event looks great and it's rock solid, love how it blends well with the Prinsu as well!

That's interesting....I went cheap and used 1 coat of the paint+primer and then 1 coat of the rustoleum bed liner. After using ratchet straps 3 times so far it holding up. Idk...doesn't really make since to me, but maybe less is more in this case.:notsure:

Yeah it was kind of tricky. The other two bars were already there, so I basically had to build this rack around it. The two cross bars are bed rails that came out of a tundra I believe.

I haven't had much issue with mine in the few times I've strapped things to it. That being said I did run across a post on the web where someone was saying that they had to remove the coating before prime and paint because they thought that the coating would hinder the paint job. I'm not sure if the self etching primer did it's thing anyway or if I just haven't really abused it too much yet. :notsure:

Got some use out of the rack today Makes me feel that the need for the cab rack is that much more important to get done. Build will commence soon.:D

The more I use mine, the more I love it. One of the best attributes of the unistrut is all the holes in it. Tie down points EVERYWHERE.

I've got my canopy rack welded up and ready for paint. Should get it painted this eve and installed next week. If anyone else plans to weld strut, muriatic acid works great for removing the galvanized coating. I'll post pics when it's done.

Same here, when I was hauling a bunch lumber it was great to have the holes for my ratchet straps. Worked like a charm!

Scott you think this unitstrut stuff could be used to make a cargo basket?

I do, but it would be pretty beefy. If you used the 1.5in unistrut you could stack them on top of each other. I've also see some online that can be ordered that don't have the holes either. Those might be nice for the top rail.

@DCSBFTMFW Sort of like this with the bottom 3/4in strut being the base and the other the top rail of the basket.
