Yep. With how far that sticks out there is no way to make it look good. I think enigma molded it into his bumper. I might do that. On mcneil's site their truck they did has a nice replacement piece. I emailed to see if they have it available.

Right now it looks pretty stupid. But honestly so does the whole thing. 6" is way too much. I'm going to throw a 2" spacer in the rear and see if that helps. The 35's look likw stock tores. I'm hoping once the rear lowers it won't look as stupid.

No problem. Hijack away. I've done it in yours plenty of times. :)

You are right, you need 40's to make it look proportional :goingcrazy:

I really hope once I get my usual load in the back and new springs it'll be a couple inches lower. Then maybe it won't look at ridiculous.

Good news. I emailed them asking if they had something available for that bumper piece.

It was supposed to be included so they are shipping me one. Phew!

Nice, btw when you send your gears in to get done. Make sure the shop has this specific tool to gauge backlash on the front diff for the dial indicator. My truck would be done already. I called a lot of shops around and its almost impossible to find this tool. Getting it overnighted so I can have my truck back http://www.dialindicator.com/indicator-accessories/angle-and-hole-attachments

found the info in the FSM if anyone is interested.... Just got too measure the preloads through the pinion nut when it's all assembled (should've known that). Just have to set pinion preload to spec first and then assemble the diff, measure the preload on the pinion nut again, and just subtract whatever the pinion preload was to get the carrier preload.

Now I was really stumped on the backlash until I saw this picture... Turns out that the drain hole is in the perfect position to access the ring gear when it's all assembled! (mind = blown!). Now I just have to find this clever little attachment (cicled in red) for my dial indicator. If anyone nows where I can purchase one, I'd love to know! :D

I have no experience with gears which is why I just sent the truck in. The shop does lots of custom work, hot rods and tons of jeeps but never a Tacoma regear. But now he'll have the tool for whenever anyone in the Baltimore area needs a regear

Reading about doing the front kind of scared me away from doing them. My dad called me a wimp.
