    Folks,

After I installed AFE CAI with my mechanic, Doug Thorley Headers, and Aero 2525 muffler I drove the truck hard, and late yesterday, I started getting the dreaded Check Engine Light .

I'm going over the truck Sat with my mechanic, hoping its just something loose. Looked it up, and seems to be a vacuum leak some where. I do see one area that might cause that I'm going to work on, and another area was to check to see if the headers got loose.

Anyways the error code I'm getting is P2241. The truck is still under warranty with less than 2500 miles on it. LAst checkup was good!

Any suggestions? I did research and found that tundras had aftermarket header issues poping the same code. Turned out to be the air injection pipe was to small?

    Thanks.

    Kai

Don't expect the dealer to cover that code under warranty with the aftermarket intake and exhaust installed.

uh not looking to the dealer for that!

I know my rights when it comes what is covered. If the aftermarket part is defective, yes it is my reponsibility there. The burden of proof lies with the dealer if the aftermarket part damaged the vehicle regarding other parts.

But the dealer is not obligated to cover repairs pertaining to the aftermarket parts and systems.
Modification of the intake and exhaust is a direct impact on the emissions system.
It will definitely not be covered, even if the aftermarket parts are not actually defective.

I think I might have just bought a V-6 Tacoma instead of doing this bullshit to a 4banger and then getting my panties in a bunch when it doesn't go right.

Put oem air intake back on, reset code, drive it, see if code comes back. If it does then you will know that the issue is related to the header. If code does not come back then you will know it is intake related. Then go from there. I don't see any way possible for the muffler to have anything to do with this.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this^^^^^^^^^^^

Put it back to stock and leave it alone. These systems are very precise and all your doing is screwing shit up. THEN u expect the dealer tech to play with this thing you screwed for free and Toyota to pay for it?
    U got some balls.

Something to do with DT header? I have LC header also with different intake and have had no air injection codes.....or any other kind.

Don't be an idiot. Never said anything about the dealer to repair it. I only wanted to state that the truck was at dealership before modification to show the truck was in good shape.

Found out that the vacuum pump was shutting closed, because the truck is running too lean on the air to fuel mixture. He suggested lower octane gas to change the air to fuel mixture.
Currently running 89, and will try 87?
It makes sense cause the error only occurred when more of my gas tank was lowered from full.

Also, the petroleum disalliated used in fuel stsblizer may be contribute to this.

10.9 something air to fuel ratio.. .air to fuel mixture was compensated for by the ecu about 5% richer fuel trim. I ended up unplugging the battery, both negative and ground pulled the ecu fuse for 20 min.

No more cel for now. Although I did find interesting that the same cel code I had appear now in my diagnostic tool said that the error is.pending? I wonder it means it will kick on when it falls to that level again?

Also, this error only occurs after 2nd to 3rd engine start up within 1 hr of drive time...

so i may be completely wrong, but typically of youre running lean your MAF sensor is being thrown off. also sometimes with headers the O2 sensor is not reading properly so the ecu tries to compensate. since i am new to a tacoma im not 100%. but with the last couple of vehicles I've had that was the case. needed a tune to the ecu

Because an I/H/E is so much worse than all the stuff being done like chopping cab mounts, LT rr susp mods, jumping at dunes, runnin them thru muddy swampy shit, climbin and scrapin on rocks and having frames rot out from or ridin thru salt baths every winter? Why wouldn't you hate to see any modded trucks on the resale market? Not seeing much difference, issues with one thing or another with used stuff either way. Replacing a header & intake with oem might take what, coupla hours? Not sayin you don't have right to your opinion or nothin like that but there hasn't been much if anything done to OP's truck at this point to be scared of some hacked up rigged nonsense....that has been posted here anyway.
