Magnuson TVS1900 Supercharger with 87mm pulley, Catted OVTune dumptubes, Doug Thorley 2.5in y-pipe, custom mufflers, 76mm Tundra throttle body, 5.29 Yukon gears, JamesT custom fuel rails, Yotawerx 87mm tune, Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension. And some other stuff.
I am starting to run out of ideas and figured someone on the forum might be able to help:

    Vehicle:
2017 Tacoma TRD OR with 04B04 ECM, Magnuson Supercharger and 5.29 gears.

Initially I was able to flash the Magnuson tune, with much frustration and trying many times to get it on. Not sure of exact why/how it was eventually it was able to flash but I got it to work. I then purchased the Yotawerx tune. Got it flashed but had to use the ECU recovery steps, and I don't think it flashed properly due to some "quirks". I reached out to Yotawerx, great support BTW, and we did find a couple issues with the tune which they fixed and sent me a new tune file. But for the life of me no matter what I do I get this error message:

    ErrorMessage.jpg

Tractrix cable is connected and the truck is in the "ON" position but not running.

Here are the things I have tried so far, none of which worked:

    - Different USB cable and port.
    - Different laptop (clean reinstall of VF Tuner)
    - Different Tractrix device (Got OVTune to register my old Tractrix, not the one from Magnuson)
    - Reinstall of OpenPort Drivers
    - Replaced the ODBII female port (Spliced new port into existing harness, confirmed it works with another ODBII reader I have)
    - Removed glove box to confirm no issues with ECM and a loose connection (no problems found)
    - Checked every fuse under dash and in engine bay that has to do with ECM or ODBII. (all fuses were fine)

Truck starts and runs just fine. Despite all I have done I still get the same error. But now I am out of ideas. The only thing I haven't replaced is the wire harness and the ECM. I don't think it is the wire harness since my other ODBII reader (Torque Pro) works without issue.

Anyone have any suggestions of what else to check?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Does your truck have an aftermarket head unit?

have you tried seeing if tech stream can connect?

@Shellshock 's questions are the best first step.

I have seen that in the past, but a full disconnect and restart of the computer and Taco always fixed it. Taking too much time between the Prepare ECU step and flashing the tune seems to be the issue for me?

    No aftermarket head unit.

I played with Tech stream for a minute. It did not seem to be able to connect. Though I am not very familuar with TS. (By seemed I clicked the "connect to vehicle" and "Generic ODB II" buttons and it said it could Communicate with device)

How do you do a full disconnect and restart of the computer?

I did disconnect battery and let it sit for 30 minutes. Should have included that on the steps performed.

Yes. I found that has been necessary when the Logged goofs up. Unplug the Tactrix from both ends, shut off the Taco, restart the computer, and start over.

No need to disconnect that battery, but it would be a good idea considering what you tried.

You're vF Software is fully updated, right?

Yes disconnect and laptop restart, several times.

Yes vF Software is fully up to date and licensed.

Geez. I would guess that you installed the Tactrix drivers from the vF Help menu?

If the doesn't help, I think you are at the point of contacting vF Tuner?

Sorry that the basics didn't help.

I installed the Openport drives from a link that Matt Wilson sent me and I have a support case open with vF.

I had a guy (@InternationalHarvester) with a similar problem 2-3 days ago after updating his software. He was trying to flash a customer's truck and kept getting that error.
I had him download and install the tactrix cable driver from the tactrix website (instead of just clicking it in vftuner), it worked.
After downloading and installing the Tactrix driver from the website, restart the computer.

Another option would be to get someone with Vftuner in your area to flash it for you. That way you’ll know if the problem is with the truck or the computer/software.

Interesting. I am going to try that right now. Ill report back the results.

BTW: I have tried two separate laptops with fresh VF Tuner installs to eliminate the laptop as the root cause.

No luck. I installed the drivers directly from the Tactrix website, restarted the "new" laptop and tried again. Same error.

Check your pins on the Tactrix, make sure none of them are bent or recessed?

Pins on both Tactrix devices are in perfect order.

OBD 2 fuse? 7.5 amp. Under dash. Also check for a pigtail plugged into the factory OBD plug with a slave plug in the original location.

Checked every fuse under dash and in engine bay that has to do with ECM or ODBII. (all fuses were fine)

You don't happen to have a HUD? or anything connected to your OBD?
I had a guy with one of those that had to be disconnected.
