It is pretty nice but heavy and I don't have a dinette or kitchen in it.

Well after the last trip and enduring some loud rock noises in Dedeckera Canyon I knew I should get a real skid. Noticed a black November sale Pelfreybilt was having and picked up an aluminum IFS skid. This thing is very stout.

I probably missed this info in your blog but do you still have the flippac. Can you tell me the weight and cost on the FWC. I'm in H.B. and have the same truck.

The day I sold the flippac is the day I drove to AZ to buy the FWC.

My FWC Finch has the weight listed as 575lbs. Most FWC owners say the listed weight isn't true.
When I weighed my truck with camper loaded for a trip it was around 6400lbs.

When you put your new front alum skid on, did you leave off the mid skid or was it compatible with the stock mid? Just curious.

Okay gotcha. I wasn't sure how far back the Pelfrey IFS went. but it sounds like it replaced both the factory tin ones. I'm trying to figure out how and when I can do mine.

Some news for the Oxcart. Since I got the camper I'd been searching for red bulbs for night vision. The interior lighting is a harsh white LED color. Well some folks on Wander The West were discussing using colored photography gels to cover their lights. So I picked some up on Slamazon in various colors. I wanted to do red on one side and warm the white on the opposite side. Mission accomplished with the help of my horror fright heat gun.

I'll put this here in my own thread first.

The Oxcart, my FWC, is going to be up for sale soon. The asking price may be high but remember this model is discontinued. I've stated before that FWC should still offer the more narrow design of their previous campers. I'm guessing it makes it easier to produce only one width for full-size and mid-size(compact) trucks. I will be posting an add on CL and WTW this coming weekend.

Asking price is $15,000. A similarly outfitted brand new build would start at 17k before taxes.

This is the discontinued narrow style for small pickups such as a Tacoma or Frontier. The Finch can fit in a long bed Tacoma and still retain the ability of the tailgate to close. For the short bed models the tailgate can be removed or left on. Current models have open cubbies on the upper rear sides of the camper. My Finch has cubbies with latched doors to keep contents from moving around. I’ve also installed interior lifting struts with quick release fittings and have two sets of struts in different pound ratings. Under the passenger side cubbie is a mount for the lifting struts should they be removed. Another addition to my Finch is a Lagun Table mount with the table from the factory. This allows for the table to remain mounted and stowed in the camper or removed if necessary. The Lagun mount is a flexible mounting system. The camper is in good condition with little wear.

    Includes:
Silver Spur Package (interior & exterior)
    Mechanical Jacks
    Jack Extension plates (Aluminum)
    Roll-Over Couch (drivers side)
3 Speed Fantastic Fan (above bed)
    Vent (above couch)
LED Ceiling Dome Lights (x2, with recent photo gel additions, can be easily removed at any time)
    Screen Door
    Front Opening Window
    Rear LED Floods
Rear LED Porch Light (2 lenses:clear & amber)
    Arctic Pack
    5’ Yakima Tracks
    Lagun Table Mount
    Interior Lifting Struts (2 sets)
    Lifting Strut Quick Release
    Lifting Strut Stowage Clips
    Pre-wired For Solar

So the next chapter in the evolution of my truck and camping system is underway. The Hasty Ambush is on the move. Planning on doing a sleeping platform with one drawer which will be modular. Hope to have it done by mid July.
This is a custom ordered Tradesman shell. As a few other members here have done my shell has a toolbox at the rear of the driver's side which is utilized as a chuckbox/kitchen. I rearranged it three times on this initial trip. So far it is working great.

While I'm at it I'll share some pics from the last trip I did with the Oxcart. I spent several days in April exploring eastern Death Valley as and of course making one last jaunt to Saline. During the majority of this trip high winds dominated the area which helped my decision to leave a day early. It was still a great trip with new to me places discovered and old haunts visited.

yeah; like the new cap. hard to find a company that does that style without a slanted front. I understand why, but any I've seen look awkward.
